Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.<br/> <br/>*You must be approved to adopt him before we will schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.<br/> <br/>*AGE: 15 months old (born November 2024)<br/> <br/>*WEIGHT: 73 lbs. He has likely reached his perfect weight. <br/> <br/>*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required as we feel this would help set him up for success. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed.<br/> <br/>*COAT TYPE: curly coat with minimal shedding, if any. He has wavy hair on his head/ears and feet. Those areas are more prone to knots and matting if not properly cared for. He will need regular brushing and grooming. You should be prepared to have him groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom.<br/> <br/>*ENERGY LEVEL: Happy and loving energy! This guy loves to be with his people which means he might even be "under foot" at times… Pony gets very excited to meet new people and animal friends! He desires all the pets in the world! He would ideally like 30-60 minutes of walking a day or taken to a dog park or dog daycare which, he has been currently doing for exercise. <br/> <br/>*DOGS: Great! Pony would do well with other dogs in the home if they are playful and not aggressive or he would be OK as an only pup. His foster family has two dogs, a Pomeranian and a Doodle, and he has done very well. He doesn’t realize his size when he zooms through the home. <br/> <br/>*CATS: Pony’s foster family has 3 dog-like cats. He loves to lick the cats and snuggle with them. <br/> <br/>*KIDS: Yes ages 12+ due to his size. Older and/or dog-savvy children would be best as Pony is a very large boy and could knock littles over with his size. He currently lives with 3 teenagers in his foster home and does excellent. He has met smaller children and has behaved very well! <br/> <br/>*CAR: Pony loves car rides! He will hang his head from the window to feel the breeze! <br/> <br/>*CRATE: Yes! Pony is crate trained and willingly goes inside on his own but has not been placed in the crate at any time. He has been left alone for a few hours at a time with the other animals in his foster home and will simply sleep either in his open crate or on the sofa. <br/> <br/>*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He has had zero issues in his foster home with going outside to do his business. He alerts with a quiet bark when he needs to go outside. <br/> <br/>*LEASH: Pony is excellent on walks. He likes to do a lot of smelling but does not pull. He is currently using an easy walk harness. <br/> <br/>*AT THE VET: Pony was taken to the vet's office for initial intake. He was super friendly. The staff all adored him! <br/> <br/>*AT THE GROOMER: While in foster care, Pony was given a bath and nail<br/>trim professionally & was a very good boy! <br/> <br/>Precious Pony is a 15 month old Irishdoodle who weighs 73 lbs. He was surrendered to IDOG by his owner who loved him very much but wasn’t able to provide him with the amount of exercise and activity he needed. Pony is a happy guy who is very sweet, loving, nutty and playful! He is a young dog full of love and would be a wonderful companion to the right family. <br/> <br/>Pony loves to be with people and/or his foster dogs and also loves to swim, go on long hikes, watch the sunsets, and car rides. Pony would do great in a home with other pups or as an only dog. He wants to be a part of it all! He is like a bulldozer sometimes (because of his size) but really just loves to snuggle. <br/> <br/>Pony loves playing in the yard and exploring, playing fetch, and swimming! He needs a family who will let him explore with them in all aspects. <br/><br/>Pony loves to be a part of all activities. Swimming, hiking, gardening, playing fetch, and getting love. He has great recall and knows commands including sit, down, paw, wait, and place. He is not overly treat motivated but once comfortable he will gently take treats from an open hand. <br/> <br/>Another dog in his new home is not necessary if Pony’s people are active and will give him the attention and engagement he needs. He loves to play with other dogs. He loves human attention more and loves to snuggle. If he could play outside all day with his family, he would be the happiest guy around.<br/> <br/>We think the ideal type of home for Pony is:<br/>-a loving family who will ensure his exercise needs are met<br/>-yard and fence <br/>-kids 12+<br/>-if there is another dog in the home, a playful dog would be ideal!<br/>-family where someone is home frequently to engage with Pony or a dog daycare where he can spend time doing enrichment. <br/> <br/>Adjectives that describe Pony:<br/>*Friendly<br/>*Curious<br/>*Silly<br/>*Loves Attention<br/>*Playful<br/>*Funny<br/>*Goofy<br/>*Snuggly<br/>*Affectionate<br/> <br/>Activities that Pony enjoys:<br/>-Tennis balls and fetch<br/>-Bird watching<br/>-Swimming<br/>-Walking<br/>-Cuddling<br/>-Playing with other dogs<br/> <br/>Pony is neutered, house trained, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative.<br/> <br/>ADOPTION FEE: $600 adoption fee <br/> <br/>ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:<br/>Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses.
