Meet Polly

Polly is a 10 months old Australian Cattledog/mix puppy, who is 38 lbs and will probably end up being around 45 lbs full grown. This Blue/Red Heeler pup is both sweet and very cute. She is loving, friendly, smart, attentive, fully housetrained and seems to be in good health (her heartworm test was negative). Polly sleeps in her crate at night, likes driving in a car and absolutely loves outdoors. It took her a day to figure out how to walk on a leash without pulling, and then we were off exploring the Appalachian Trail with her and her foster brother! It's rare that a foster dog is that reliable and good from the very start. Since then she went on multiple adventures exploring trails in the local forests and mountains. On days when we can't hike, she walks on a leash twice a day around the neighborhood, and these walks along with exploring the backyard keep her busy.

We are happy to report that Polly isn't nippy and seems to be good with cats. She is curious, but doesn't try to chase after them. But when it comes to bad habits that need some work, there is jumping. This girl is tall for a heeler (she is lanky and may end up being around 45 lbs full grown) and knows how to use her height. Judging by the fact that she's somewhat underweight even after being properly fed in boarding and in the foster home, food may not have been abundant where she came from, and she has learned how to search for it. She would explore tables and countertops and try to take what she can. It's getting better now, but it is still work in progress.
Polly is friendly towards people. She may be shy when meeting somebody for the first time (we can tell that the puppy wasn't socialized properly) especially if somebody approaches her in the dark, but she figures things out very quickly. It is amazing how quickly she picked things up. These days we can take her shopping and know she will be perfectly fine in dog friendly places like Home Depot, Marshalls or Petsmart.

Lastly, she is really, really pretty if dark beauties are your thing. Because she is mostly black and came to us relatively recently, we are yet to take her best picture, but Polly is a looker. She has the prettiest paws, massive, red, with a black line on each toe and cutest red eyebrows. She would look at you when you talk to her and often tilts her head trying to understand. I think she succeeds in that! She is one of these dogs you can talk to without feeling silly.
We will keep adding more pictures of Polly to this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/FbVMpLY5BajxxT829
Please follow her progress and adventures, and if you want a young, energetic heeler pup who will be glued to you or all your outdoors adventures, who will keep you company inside and also listen to your every word, who will alert you about strangers roaming around your house, she might be your dog!
