Po Boy Mixed Breed Fredericksburg, VA

Hi my name is Po Boy! I’m 13 years old and 35lbs. My owner died and I am now looking for my retirement home.

Here's a little bit about me:

P - Placid and calm, I am one of those guys that just needs a comfy place to lay and I'm satisfied. I also enjoy a peaceful nature walk or a walk on the beach.

O - Oh, you want to go for a ride in the car?! That's one of my favorite things so far. I ride shotgun and curl up for a nice nap before we reach our destination. One of my favorite destinations is "Dairy Queen" for ice cream.

B - Beach! I got to visit one recently and it was fun to smell all the smells (one or two dead fish) and hang out with my humans.

O - Offspring, aka kids, I for sure like the ones who know how to give me my personal space and not poke at me like a small toddler might. I have spent a lot of time with two 9 year olds recently and we get along great.

Y - Yes, I may be older, but that just means I come with more experience. I promise to be a great companion. I might even be fine in a home with dogs that are chill/calm like me, but it might take me a while to acclimate/accept them. I know for sure I would be good as your only pet.

Medical Notes: I will need a dental in the future (talk to the humans at Helping Hands in Richmond, VA about their great deal on that). I mean at age 13, who doesn't need a little dental check up and cleaning. I have been treated for heartworms and I am all done with my rest period. Please be sure to keep me on heartworm prevention so I don't have to go through the treatment again.

Adoption donations are $250 for an adult, $350 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $125 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). All dogs are spay/neutered, have rabies, distemper vaccine, microchip, heartworm test if age appropriate, and are current on heartworm preventative. Adoption donations are accepted via cash or debit/credit card. There is a $5 fee to run a card.

Please remember to bring a collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. Note: Martingale collars and slip leads are recommended.

Fill out an application online prior to arriving to our adoption event. This greatly speeds up the adoption process and will ensure that the animal you are interested in will be at the event. Not all adoptable dogs can make it to all events, because they are cared for in foster homes. Our adoption events are most Wednesday’s from 4-7pm and each Saturday from Noon until 4 PM on Saturday’s at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 102, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. There are circumstances that we will not have an adoption event, so please email or check our Facebook prior to coming to ensure we will be open.

We do receive HUNDREDS of emails daily. The fastest way to get a response is to fill out an application on our website, NOT by submitting an inquiry. Online applications get priority over applications filled out in person.
