With her trusted people, she is affectionate, funny, and easy to live with—she loves curling up in your lap, building little “nests,” snoozing in her crate, and following her favorite person around the house. She doesn’t need much to be happy: a cozy home, a calm routine, and humans who listen when she says she’s unsure.

Pippi is still learning that new people—especially men—can be safe. When she’s uncomfortable, she’ll tell you with barks, backing away, and very expressive ears and tail. She prefers that visitors ignore her at first and let her come to them on her own terms. Once she feels secure, she recovers quickly and shows her silly, sweet side. She also does very well with other dogs, even large dogs, and would do best with another dog in the home.

Pippi’s ideal home is
quiet and predictable
, with adults (or patient, dog-savvy older kids) who are happy with a homebody dog rather than a “take everywhere” companion. A
fenced yard
is strongly preferred so she can explore and play without the stress of busy streets or lots of handling. She would likely thrive with a single person or a family who understands shy, under-socialized dogs and is committed to slow introductions, positive reinforcement, and letting Pippi set the pace.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loving, deeply loyal little shadow and are willing to give her the time and space she needs to trust, Pippi will repay you by becoming someone’s very special heart dog.

An adoption donation
is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:

Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
