Phoebe has started off strong with her New Year’s Resolution to learn and grow into her best self. She is timid about the real world out here but with support and encouragement Phoebe can put on her sassy pants and be ready to play! She’s looking for a special type of home. What you should know about Phoebe is that she spent all of her life until now in a shelter with her mom and siblings and she has a lot of learning left to do with gentle, patient and kind people in her life.

Phoebe is still learning all the ins and out about being a house dog and needs a home that will help show her what the right choices are instead of correcting her bad choices. She will absolutely counter surf, get into the garbage, chew anything, bark and whine, get on the table and the furniture, jump up on the stove, and shred the tissue box if given the opportunity. Phoebe needs a home that will restrict her access to the dangerous things in the home while she learns appropriate behaviors. Phoebe is rural living, country girl! She loves to defluff stuffed animals, kill the squeaky toys, chase the kong wobbler, chew stuffed frozen kong snacks, build herself a bed out of all the blankets she is offered or steals, squirrel away items like toy cars, leashes, cups, hats and shoes into her crate den when you’re not looking. While she coexists with small children in her foster home with careful guidance and separation, she’s made it clear that they don’t provide her comfort or joy and therefore a busy home with small children is not for her.

Phoebe has a high desire to please but is very sensitive, she needs a home that does not use underground electric fences for containment. She’s a sassy, sweet character of a puppy at heart and she’s ready to learn and grow with people of her very own. Her foster-dog-siblings make her nervous as they are the loud and forward type. She may do OK with another dog that is calm, kind, and not forward or loud. Phoebe is quizzical about cats, chickens, ducks and horses, at the time they’re mostly more scary than interesting but over time they seem to peak her interest more and more and she may come to think it might be pretty cool to try chasing them if the opportunity was available.

Phoebe is 8 months old, weighs 25 pounds, spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations and preventatives. She is being fostered in Deerfield, NH and local (New England) adoptions are strongly preferred where applicants can meet Phoebe in her foster home where she feels safe.
