Meet Pepper&Pups-URGENT
Found behind a guardrail just before freezing rain hit, Pepper still took two days to be coaxed into a ride to a safer place. She's now in the home of the patient people who found her and gave her the time - and food and water - she needed to trust human interaction. She is emerging daily from her fearfulness of car rides, doorways and the trauma of being abandoned. But she struggles with the liveliness of a dog-abundant household. Here is what her finders tell us:
She met each of our dogs without incident, but once brought all together in one small space, she feels threatened and has not been able to adjust to the 3 boy dogs. She adores our girl dog and greets her exuberantly! This precious girl has already blossomed with a little tlc, and is without a doubt going to be a loyal companion. She is very people oriented - she greets me, my husband and daughter with equal measures of happy wagging. She tries to follow us into other rooms, and if she can't then she will sit against the door and wait for us to come back. She crates well, communicates well (a good thing!), walks on a leash well, and has had no accidents at all in the house. She is happy to try new things with the lure of food (and is learning how to sit!) and is not food aggressive towards us. She will make an amazing and loving pet for the right family.
Pepper's finders believe she is about 1 year old, and pregnant. Right now she is crated all but a couple of hours a day, so the need to re-home her is urgent. A safe foster (or let's shoot for the stars here!) forever home is sought where Pepper can have her pups (pepper-onis?) Some assistance with vetting is available. Pepper is not in residence at the Shelter and urgently needs your help. Please refer to her by name and the code DNH12272012 when calling.
UPDATE: On 12/29/12 Pepper had 8 pups. Mom and all are thriving but confined to a bathroom all day - definitely a very temporary situation. Please help!
