Peanut - AVAILABLE TO FOSTER OR ADOPT's Story

Peanut is a sweet, affectionate young girl who is just under a year old, 31 lbs and appears to be a Cattle Dog/Carolina Dog mix. She loves other dogs, enjoys her daily walks, adores belly rubs, and is just beginning to discover how much fun toys can be!

Peanut is fully vetted, healthy, and ready to find her forever home. She does have one unique trait that makes her a little special - her vision isn't perfect. While she can see larger objects and navigates her world surprisingly well, she appears to be somewhat farsighted and occasionally trips over things that are right in front of her. Veterinary exams have shown her eyes to be structurally normal, but she doesn't quite have 20/20 vision.

The good news? Peanut doesn't let that slow her down. She confidently navigates trails, play yards, her kennel, and everyday life. Like most dogs, she relies heavily on her incredible sense of smell and quickly learns her surroundings.

Because Peanut loves other dogs and gains confidence from having canine companions around, she would thrive in a home with another friendly dog. Think of it as having her own built-in guide and best friend! She enjoys socializing with other dogs and takes comfort from their presence.

Peanut has a gentle, quirky personality with some mild herding instincts typical of her breed mix. More than anything, she's looking for a person she can trust, bond with, and love wholeheartedly.

If you're looking for a loyal companion and don't mind a dog who's just a little bit special, Peanut may be the perfect match for you. She has so much love to give and is ready to find the family she's been waiting for. She is looking for a foster or forever home. Apply at redbarnrescue.com to meet her!

Red Barn Rescue's Adoption Policy
All dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (including Rabies when age-appropriate), heartworm tested, and kept on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Many dogs also receive dental care, heartworm treatment, or other medical procedures as needed. Prospective adopters must complete an adoption application and receive approval before meeting a dog. Applicants must list all current pets, and those pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. A home visit may be required as part of our approval process. Once approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet with your family, including current dogs. Adopters are responsible for ongoing veterinary care, keeping their pets up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and maintaining a safe, responsible home. If you are looking for a specific type or breed, you may submit an application and note your preferences for future consideration. Our adoption fee reflects the medical care and resources invested in preparing each dog for a healthy start. If an adopter can no longer care for their dog, the dog must be returned to Red Barn Rescue as stated in our contract.
