Ozzy's Story
Français ci-dessous

Ozzy is a 2.5-year-old male dachshund looking for his forever home. Breed experience is definitely an asset.

Ozzy was surrendered along with another dachshund named Harper, who is also available for adoption. While they are not a bonded pair, it would be wonderful to see them adopted together. That said, he can absolutely be adopted on his own.

Ozzy is an extremely affectionate, cuddly little dog who thrives on attention and human companionship. He loves to snuggle, give kisses, and stay close.

He is the more sensitive of the two siblings and can be a little anxious at first, especially around men, but he warms up quickly with patience and kindness. Once he feels secure, his sweet personality really shines. Ozzy can also be a bit of an escape artist when settling into a new environment, so even in a fenced yard, close supervision is important while he adapts.

Ozzy has lived peacefully with other dogs, cats, chickens, and horses. He may be slightly reactive to some dogs during introductions, but this appears manageable with proper guidance. He will need continued support with housetraining and leash walking, but he has made good progress and should continue to improve with consistency.

Ozzy is overweight at approximately 23 lbs and will need to slim down. His ideal weight should be about 20 lbs. It is especially important for this breed to maintain a healthy weight due to their short legs, long backs, and susceptibility to back issues. A consistent exercise routine and proper diet will be key.

While Ozzy is a small dog, he still needs daily walks, not just for physical exercise but also for mental stimulation. A backyard is great for playtime, but it does not replace the enrichment and structure that regular walks provide.

Ozzy is a loving companion who, with stability and care, will form a deep bond with his new family.

To inquire about adoption, please contact our dog adoption coordinator Brenda at 819.876.7747 any day of the week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

*****************
