Oriole was reportedly beaten 4–5 times a day for at least five months in his previous home. His most recent injury left him with a femoral fracture, an injury his veterinarian says could only have been caused by force comparable to that of a moving car. This has left Oriole in extreme pain, and he will soon be undergoing surgery to repair the damage.<br/><br/>Oriole also lived confined to a roughly 5-foot area on a linoleum floor, rarely went outside, and was left to sit in his own feces and urine.
