Shelter Chic: A Foster-Based Rescue Group Run by Volunteers Shelter Chic’s primary mission is to find forever homes for homeless dogs and cats in need. By promoting adoption in a fun, positive, and whimsical way, we reshape the despondent stigma surrounding animal rescue and homeless pets. Shelter Chic brings light to the fact that there are a wide variety of animals that end up in shelters – puppies, kittens, purebreds – at no fault of their own. Shelter Chic focuses on commonly passed over animals, the traditional underdogs, including seniors, those with special needs, and the bully breeds, showing that they are in fact the top dogs. Our adoptable animals are often seen strutting the streets of NYC in flowery collars, snazzy bowties, and sparkly tu-tus with heads held high and tails wagging.
