Opie's Story

MEET OPIE! 8 POUNDS OF PERSONALITY, A MILLION DOLLARS' WORTH OF CHARM, AND ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEPT OF PERSONAL SPACE!

If you've ever dreamed of having a tiny, fluffy best friend who thinks you hung the moon, wants to accompany you everywhere, and believes your primary purpose in life is to adore him, then we have just the little gentleman for you!

Meet Opie, our adorable adult Bichon Frise who weighs less than 8 pounds but has the personality of a dog ten times his size!

When Opie first came to Fairy Dogmother Rescue, this precious little guy was in desperate need of some TLC. He needed to gain weight, get healthy, and most importantly, get some much-needed dental care.

And when we say much-needed, we mean NINE rotten teeth needed to come out!

Can you imagine how uncomfortable that tiny mouth must have been?

Thanks to some wonderful veterinary care, Opie has now been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and had his dental completed. His foster family has also worked incredibly hard to help him gain healthy weight, learn good potty habits, and discover what it feels like to be loved and cared for.

And let us tell you, the transformation has been AMAZING!

Apparently, once those painful teeth were gone, Opie decided it was time to start living his very best life!

And boy, does he have some catching up to do!

DANCING WITH THE STARS? SIGN HIM UP!

Opie has the most adorable habit of standing on his hind legs and dancing at your feet! We aren't saying he's ready for the mirrorball trophy, but we definitely think he'd give some of those professional dancers a run for their money!

SMALL DOG, BIG DOG ENERGY!

Opie absolutely LOVES playing with other small dogs. And the bigger dogs? Well, he thinks they're pretty great, too! He will happily run and play with larger canine friends as long as they understand that their tiny buddy needs a little extra care. Opie has absolutely no idea that he's the little guy in the group!

PROFESSIONAL SNUGGLER!

If you're looking for a dog who enjoys being near you, cuddling up, and making sure you never feel lonely, Opie is your guy! He is a little wiggle worm of love who wants to be wherever his favorite human happens to be.

HAVE PURSE, WILL TRAVEL!

At less than 8 pounds, Opie is the perfect size to be your little traveling companion! He LOVES riding in the car and would be absolutely delighted to accompany you on your adventures. Coffee runs? He's in. Road trips? Let's go! A quick trip to pick something up? Don't forget Opie!

If you've always wanted one of those adorable little purse dogs who can tag along on your adventures, Opie would be happy to interview for the position.

YOUR NEW FULL-TIME SHADOW!

Now, we do need to discuss something important.

Opie is not looking for a family who simply wants a cute little dog to admire from across the room.

Oh, no.

Opie is looking for a HUMAN. HIS human.

Someone who thinks having a tiny Bichon following them from room to room is absolutely delightful.

Someone who doesn't mind a little dog dancing at their feet while they're trying to get something done.

Someone who understands that Opie has spent enough time not feeling his best and now believes he deserves to be treated like the little prince he is.

And frankly, we think he's earned it!

His ideal adopter will be someone who has plenty of time and affection to share, enjoys having a constant companion, and is committed to continuing the wonderful progress his foster family has made with his potty training.

And one more thing! Opie is a Bichon, which means that gorgeous fluffy coat will require regular grooming. Looking this handsome takes a little maintenance, and Opie expects his future human to keep those spa appointments!

Here's what we love most about Opie's story.

When he arrived, he was a tiny dog who wasn't feeling very good. He needed medical care, patience, good food, and someone willing to invest the time to help him feel better.

And once he started feeling better, his whole personality blossomed!

Now he's dancing, playing, snuggling, riding in cars, and soaking up every bit of love his foster family gives him.

That is what rescue is all about.
