Meet One Eyed Jack... and he's looking for a hero.<br/>Sometimes the very best dogs have the hardest stories.<br/>One Eyed Jack was rescued by a kindhearted Good Samaritan in rural Oklahoma. We don't know what happened that caused him to lose one of his eyes, but we do know one thing...<br/>It hasn't slowed him down one bit.<br/>This scruffy little terrier mix weighs less than 20 pounds and is full of personality. He loves people, adores playing with other dogs, and lives every day with a joyful spirit that makes it impossible not to love him.<br/>Unfortunately, after arriving at Fairy Dogmother Rescue and visiting Dr. Skube, Jack was diagnosed as heartworm positive.<br/>Now this little pirate needs a very special foster home.<br/>While Jack loves running and wrestling with his canine friends, heartworm treatment requires the exact opposite. After his injections, he'll need several weeks of strict rest and very limited activity to keep him safe while the medication does its job. In his current foster home, that's nearly impossible because all he wants to do is play.<br/>One important thing to know: Heartworms are not contagious to people or other pets. They cannot be spread through cuddling, sharing food or water bowls, or living in the same home. Heartworms are transmitted only through the bite of an infected mosquito, so there's no risk in opening your home to this sweet little guy.<br/>Jack would thrive in a quiet home where he can be the center of someone's world. He's not a fan of being crated, so an ideal foster would be someone who is retired or home most of the day and can let him relax nearby without the excitement of other dogs encouraging him to run and play.<br/> We cover all veterinary expenses.<br/> We provide his medications.<br/> We support you every step of the way.<br/>You simply provide the love, a calm place to heal, and a soft spot for this sweet little pirate.<br/>Jack has already overcome losing an eye.
