Meet Nova

If you can see this post, Nova is still available for adoption. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested. If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, it will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without an application.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/*

This is Nova and she is looking for a new home! She will be three in November. She is deaf but that doesn't slow her down, and it means she will never judge you for singing in the shower!

She is house trained, crate trained, can use a dog door, or knows how to scratch at the door to be let out. She loves to give kisses and her nub is constantly wagging. Just because she is deaf does not mean she is silent and will let you know if she wants something!

Her favorite activities are riding in the car, going to the beach (although she's a terrible swimmer), going on walks and hikes, playing with other dogs (she has a rough play style), and snuggling on the couch. She has also gone to festivals and loves meeting new people and isn't scared of anything (except sometimes a trash bag, those things are creepy!).

She has been living with dogs, cats, horses and loves kids. She is a little too rambunctious for the cats and small dogs usually. She thrives being around people.

She knows the signs for sit, come, paw, and is learning stay. She is a very very energetic dog and likes having something to do. If left to her own devices she will sometimes investigate the counter top. She will need an adopter with a fence or be always on a leash outside as she is deaf and has no recall.

She sounds almost perfect, so you may be wondering why she is looking for a new home. She and her older housemate no longer get along, to the point they have to be kept entirely separated. She is good with every other dog she has ever met, but because of this she would need to meet any other dogs in the household prior to adoption.

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of 300.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.

*/*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.
