Meet Noir's Story

-Written by Noir, a 46lb female Labrador Retriever mix, possibly mixed with Border Collie.
---------------------------------------------

Sometimes hope is all that one has. It doesn't matter how amazing they are. It doesn't matter how sweet they are. It doesn't matter how much they want something. Sometimes, people just overlook you and what you can offer. I am one of the sweetest girls around, yet I have spent most of my life homeless. Sure, I had a family or two at some point but they didn't care enough to keep me with them. I ended up on my own, which sucked. I wanted a family so bad. I wanted a warm dog bed. I wanted someone to love. I wanted someone to play with me. I wanted someone to go on adventures with. I wanted someone to cuddle with. Yet, my life has been outdoors only with little human interaction. Definitely not what I had imagined my life would be like when I was just a pup.

The worst part is I would have taken anything. I wanted a family so bad, I would have been willing to do just about anything for love. Instead, I was now trying to survive on the streets. I wasn't very good at it though. I ended up getting picked up and brought to a vet clinic. When no one came for me, I ended up being at risk for euthanasia. The shelter was full and the vet couldn't keep me long-term. Just like that, my life was to be over. Me. The girl who is so full of love and kindness. The girl who just wanted a family, and instead was going to die because no one loved or wanted her. How crappy is that? Talk about a hit to your self-esteem. Through all of this, I still had hope though. Hope that a miracle would happen. Hope that this wasn't the end for me...I had only been alive for about a year...how could it already be over?

In the end, my hope paid off. This rescue caught wind of my situation and by some crazy chance, a foster stepped up for me! I came to PPFT shortly after and started a new chapter of my life.

There have been a lot of changes in my life, but there is one thing that I love about all else right now. Can you guess what it is? Yes, I love attention. Yes, I love treats. Yes, I love being indoors. But my most favorite thing is going for walks!! My foster mom says that I am one of the best leash walkers ever! I will keep my nose right in line with my foster's left knee. I don't pull and do so amazing on walks. I have not been hiking yet, but given how much I love walks and how well I do...I think its safe to say that I would enjoy hiking. The fun doesn't stop at walks though. I do excellent on car rides and will sit down and stare out the window. I have come across a few new people on my walks and did wonderfully. I was very excited to make friends and get lots of pets and attention. Now, I know you would get suspicious if I was too perfect so I must admit that I do jump. Usually, only when I am really excited to meet someone new or to see you. My foster family is working on this with me though. What can I say, you will always have one happy dog every time I see you. Whether you were gone for 5 hours or 5 minutes.

I don't mean to brag or anything, but I think I have a pretty awesome personality. I love playing outside with the other dogs, playing with my toys, going for walks, and then coming inside and taking a nice long nap. I would love if my new family took me on adventures with them, and then after we just chilled the rest of the day. I will also play fetch with you so I know that has to be a bonus to someone out there. Along with that I love all kinds of toys and am not picky. I may de-stuff plush toys sometimes, but I usually prefer to prance around the yard carrying my toys, trying to entice the other dogs to play chase or wrestle with me. I am a water dog. I would enjoy splashing in a kiddie pool. I will splash around in the water dish occasionally when I feel especially playful.

Getting to be inside may be new to me, but I am such a smart girl and it took me no time at all to learn the ins and outs of everything. I am potty as well as kennel trained. I have not been a big chewer in my foster home, and tend to stick to chewing on toys, nylabones, and peanut butter-filled kongs. I am still young though, so hopefully my new family will keep things put up at first. I would hate to have a lapse in willpower and grab something I shouldn't and you get upset with me. I want to be a good girl. I want to make you happy! I have not been very vocal in my foster home, but will join in if I hear the other dogs are doing it.

I have been through a lot lately, but I am excited at the prospect of finding my forever family. Please I am begging you though, only apply to adopt me if you can keep me forever. If you can't keep me through ALL of my life's changes, don't be the one that makes me have to be passed around a few months/years down the line again. That just isn't fair to me.

I would NEVER give up on you, so please don't give up on me. I want to be your forever...not your until dog.

FROM HER FOSTER MOM ? ?

~Noir is a lovely 12 month old 46 pound mix. We don't think she'll get much bigger than her current size. She has a beautiful black medium length coat and a few adorable white toes! She is named after the Film Noir movie genre - she is a dog of many talents. In dog rescue, you typically don't get much history on the dog before it came into rescue. Noir is no exception. I do believe someone really worked with her on the correct way to walk on a leash. I've never had a dog who could walk on a loose leash as easily as Noir. A possible border collie mix, Noir is a bright young dog who will do SO well with agility or obedience classes. She is eager to please and food/treat/ praise motivated. She loves to be petted and will snuggle on the couch with you to watch Film Noirs. She is always ready to run to Starbucks for a pup cup. If we had to describe Noir in one word, we'd say she's a Lovebug! She is a dynamo of a dog and will be adored by the lucky family who adopts her. We love you, Noir!!

Noir's ideal home would have another dog for her to play with, or a family who is home most of the day. She is very smart and would get lonely if she was left alone most of the day.~
