Meet Napoleon
Napoleon-Min Pin Male, ~ 4-5 yr. (Nov. 2018)
Napoleon was in taken in by a rural mountain animal shelter when someone witnessed him being thrown out a moving car window. Luckily, he was not injured but did have some 'mental scars' from the whole life situation prior to that. Now in a dog experienced foster home, he has made some great strides and continues to improve. Here is some of the advice from the staff, for someone considering adoption of Napoleon.
"Needs to be an experienced dog person/family. He will need obedience classes to help with socialization with other dogs and his trust issues (he would do best with a structured training/bonding situation and definitely one that uses only positive reinforcement). He still gets a bit snappy at times when he feels them invading his space, even when done in a non-aggressive way. I think he'd be fine in a home with another dog as long as it was not an overtly alpha one. Is a lap dog.
Would not recommend him in a home w small children. Older teenagers might be ok as long as they could be trained to respect his space and understand where he's been - not treated very well and physically mishandled. He has some trust issues. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, goes out w the other dogs for potty breaks. Does well on leash. Loves to eat!! Has not been food or treat aggressive.
His adoption fee is $300 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. For our application, please email rescuebc@hotmail.com Include your location and a phone number for future communication.
