Murphy Foster Needed's Story

Murphy Is Ready for a Foster Home Or Better Yet, a Forever Home!

Murphy is the oldest of the Freed Thirteen Boxers, and when he arrived in rescue, he was in the roughest condition. As many of you may remember, Murphy is completely blind and has been battling pneumonia. The good news is that he is finally feeling much better and is ready for the next step in his journey.
During his time in a temporary foster home, Murphy has truly begun to blossom. When he first came into rescue, he was so unsure of himself that he wouldn't even walk on his own. Today, he happily explores his surroundings, follows interesting scents, and has started to enjoy all the things a dog should have been enjoying all along.

His foster mom says Murphy is like a 7-year-old puppy. He is learning how to be a dogloving attention, chewing on bones, enjoying treats, and discovering the comfort of a soft bed and a safe home.

Although Murphy is blind, he is adapting remarkably well. Like many blind dogs, he is learning to rely on his other senses, especially his hearing and sense of smell. He has already mastered going up and down the two steps to enter and leave the house. While there is certainly a learning curve, both for Murphy and for anyone fostering him, dogs are incredibly resilient and quick to adapt.

Over the years, NJ Boxer Rescue has welcomed several blind Boxers into our program, and there is truly something special about them. They teach us about trust, resilience, and living in the moment. Murphy is no exception. Spend a little time with him, and you'll quickly see why everyone who meets him falls in love.
Murphy would do best in a home with a female dog. He is currently staying with Lavana, who is also looking for a foster home so if you're feeling extra generous, you could always foster two!

If you are interested in fostering Murphy and helping him continue his journey toward the life he deserves, please contact Barbara at BarbaraABoxer@gmail.com. NJ Boxer Rescue will provide support and guidance every step of the way while you care for Murphy.

Murphy has spent enough of his life struggling. Let's find this sweet boy the loving home he deserves. Are you looking for unconditional love?

New Jersey Boxer Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering to adopt a rescued boxer. The adoption process is outlined in the steps below. Please note, each step is contingent on the successful completion of the one before it. 1. Read our Adoption Policies than complete an Adoption Application The adoption application may seem long, but please understand each question is designed to assist in placing our beloved rescues in their forever home and to determine if the applicant is the best match for a particular dog. Our only reward is to ensure each dog is placed in their forever home. 2. Reference & Vet Checks After the initial review of the adoption Contract, a NJBR volunteer will call the references on your application. 3. Telephone Interview A telephone interview will be conducted, in order to review points on the application, answer any questions or discuss a particular dog. If the interview goes well a home visit is then scheduled. 4. Home Visit A NJBR volunteer will conduct a home visit in order to meet the family members, and other pets and to ensure that the home environment is suited for a boxer. Whenever possible a boxer will be brought along for the visit. 5. Approved for Adoption After the home visit is conducted, and of course if all goes well, you will be approved for adoption. At this point we will do our best to match a boxer with your home and in the ideal case coordinate the adoption of the dog you selected on your application. If we do not have the right dog for you and you do find a dog with another rescue group, we will be happy to share our approval information. 6. Email the Dog’s Contact Person If you are interested in a particular dog on the website, be certain to email the contact person listed in the dog’s biography. 7. Adoption At the time of adoption the following documents will be executed: Adoption Contract* – stipulating (in addtion to other contractual requirements, that the dog must be taken to obedience training unless their is a special circumstance (age or health) that prevents the dog from participating in training, Follow-up Schedule Restraint Agreement (stating the dog cannot be let off-lead in a non-fenced area) * In homes with children under the age of 12 the contract also states that the dog and children cannot be left alone un-supervised. 8. Follow Up A follow-up schedule is a part of our adoption package. We request that you keep in touch with us on a regular basis and we are always available to answer questions and provide support if needed. We especially love receiving pictures and updates on how your new family member is settling in. Please understand that all the steps are administrated by volunteers many of whom work full time, so your patience is appreciated.
