1/17/2019: Muffin is a beautiful Catahoula/Terrier mix with multi-colored eyes. She’s 3 years old and weighs 50 lbs. Muffin hadn’t been socialized well and was very fearful when she was brought in by her person, who was moving. We've had her for several months now, and she's made great progress! She loves to go for walks and loves belly rubs, stuffed toys and nylabones. She also loves to swim in the baby pools. She’s such a sweet girl and just a goofball!
Muffin gets along well with other dogs, and we'd really like to place her in a home with another dog to help her adjust and have a buddy to play with and to learn from. We'd ask you to make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Muffin to see if they'd be a good match.
Muffin needs a home without kids or cats. Her new person will need to be patient with her and help her adjust to her new home and socialize her to new situations and environments. We'd ask you to come in a few times to spend time with Muffin before taking her home so that she gets to know you a little better. We would also be happy to do a foster-to-adopt situation for Muffin.
Muffin had heartworms when she arrived but has completed treatment and is heartworm free now. She's also been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She’ll be a nice companion for another dog, and a sweet and funny companion for the person who’s patient and helps her adjust to her new life.
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for more information about our adoption process, our adoption fees and all that's included, and for a pet adoption application.
> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. We encourage you to fill out an online adoption application and submit it before you come to see us. This helps us process your application more quickly and we can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.
> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.
