MY NAME IS OPAL, AND I NEED A NEW FAMILY <br/><br/>Hi, my name is Opal.<br/><br/>I don’t really understand what’s happening, so maybe you can help me.<br/><br/>I’ve been with my family since I was just a tiny puppy in 2016. For almost my entire life, they have been my world.<br/><br/>Their home has been my home.<br/>Their routines have been my routines.<br/>Their voices, their footsteps, their hugs, and the places where I sleep at night are everything I know.<br/><br/>But now my family has to move to a much smaller home and couldn't find a pet friendly place, and sadly, they cannot take me with them.<br/><br/>I didn’t do anything wrong.<br/><br/>They still love me very much, and saying goodbye to me is incredibly difficult for them. But sometimes life changes in ways we never expect, and now I need someone very special to help me begin a new chapter. <br/><br/>I'm already spayed, up to date on my vaccines, microchipped and crate trained.<br/><br/>I live with my family in Beaverton, OR now until 10.25.2026 and will move to Ridgefield, WA to live with my foster family. I can travel to Vancouver, BC if there is a potential family for me.<br/><br/>My adoption fee is $300 US<br/><br/>Adoption Application:<br/><br/>https://forms.gle/D7a5AnW8BbZUdi24A<br/><br/>(Please copy & paste if the link is not clickable.)<br/><br/>Here is my story:<br/><br/>I’m a big girl, but I promise you my heart is even bigger. <br/><br/>When I was adopted as a puppy, I was identified as a German Shepherd mix, although people think I might have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in me too.<br/><br/>Honestly, I don’t really care what breed I am.<br/><br/>I just know that I’m Opal.<br/><br/>I’m loving.<br/>I’m friendly.<br/>I love people.<br/>I’m wonderful with other dogs.<br/>I love going for walks and running around outside.<br/><br/>And I LOVE to cuddle. <br/><br/>Nobody has had the heart to tell me that I’m far too big to be a lap dog, so please don’t be the first! If there is a lap, a couch, or a warm spot next to my person, I’m going to do my best to fit.<br/><br/>I do come with a few imperfections.<br/><br/>I have allergies that my family hasn’t been able to completely figure out, so my new family will need to be patient and willing to help me manage them.<br/><br/>I’ve also had some pretty severe ear infections over the past couple of years, and eventually I needed surgery. One of my ears is now a little puffy and looks different.<br/><br/>But I hope when you look at me, you won’t see my funny ear.<br/><br/>I hope you’ll see my heart. <br/><br/>I hope you’ll see a loyal girl who has spent her entire life knowing what it feels like to belong to a family.<br/><br/>And now, after all these years, I’m facing something I never expected...<br/><br/>Starting over.<br/><br/>I’m not a little puppy anymore, but I still have so much life to live, so many walks to take, so many adventures to enjoy, and so much love left to give.<br/><br/>What I need now isn’t someone who feels sorry for me.<br/><br/>I need someone who chooses me.<br/><br/>Someone who will look at this big girl with her imperfect little ear and say:<br/><br/>“Come on, Opal. Our Foster-to-Adopt Process At Nowruz Animal Rescue Group, we follow a foster-to-adopt process to ensure that each pet and family are a perfect match for one another. This approach allows both the dog and the adoptive family to adjust and bond before making a lifelong commitment. Step 1: Application Once a pet is listed for adoption, interested families are invited to fill out an online application form. This form includes: Three personal references The name of the veterinarian who will care for the pet Step 2: Application Review & Phone Chat After reviewing the application, we contact strong candidates for a phone interview. This gives us a chance to get to know the family better and answer any initial questions. Step 3: Home Check If the phone conversation goes well, we arrange a home check to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the specific pet. Step 4: Meet & Greet Next, we schedule a meet and greet with the dog and the family—either at the home or a secure, neutral location. One or two meetings may be arranged so everyone, especially the pet, has time to feel comfortable. During this time, we also complete reference checks. Step 5: Foster-to-Adopt Trial If the family decides to move forward, the dog begins a foster-to-adopt trial period. We deliver the pet to their new home along with essentials such as: Collar and leash Food and treats Favorite toys We encourage families to stay in touch throughout the transition.
