The doctors found mammary masses that needed to be removed.<br/><br/>For a while, I worried that maybe I was broken.<br/><br/>Maybe that's why no one wanted me anymore.<br/><br/>But then something wonderful happened.<br/><br/>Someone cared enough to help me.<br/><br/>They took me to the doctor.<br/><br/>They made sure I was safe.<br/><br/>They made sure I wasn't in pain anymore.<br/><br/>And for the first time in a very long time, I felt important.<br/><br/>I felt loved.<br/><br/>Now my body has healed, but something even more amazing has happened.<br/><br/>My heart has healed too.<br/><br/>These days, my favorite thing in the world isn't toys.<br/><br/>It isn't treats.<br/><br/>It isn't even playing with other dogs, although I'm very nice to them.<br/><br/>My favorite thing is people.<br/><br/>Just people.<br/><br/>Sitting next to them.<br/><br/>Following them around the house.<br/><br/>Resting my head on their lap.<br/><br/>Falling asleep beside them while they watch TV.<br/><br/>Sometimes I roll onto my back with my legs stretched out in every direction because that's how safe I finally feel.<br/><br/>That's how comfortable love makes me.<br/><br/>I don't ask for much.<br/><br/>I don't need excitement.<br/><br/>I don't need adventures.<br/><br/>I don't need to be the center of attention.<br/><br/>I just want someone who will let me stay close.<br/><br/>Someone who understands that after spending so much of my life feeling unwanted, being near my person feels like the greatest gift in the world.<br/><br/>I often wonder what my forever family will be like.<br/><br/>Will they laugh when I sleep belly-up?<br/><br/>Will they tell me I'm beautiful even though my face is starting to show a little maturity?<br/><br/>Will they understand that every cuddle, every tail wag, every kiss I give is my way of saying thank you?<br/><br/>Thank you for choosing me.<br/><br/>Thank you for seeing me.<br/><br/>Thank you for giving me the life I always deserved.<br/><br/>Maybe you're that person.<br/><br/>Maybe you're the one I've been waiting for all along.<br/><br/>And if you are, I promise you this:<br/><br/>No one will ever love you more faithfully than a dog who knows what it feels like to be forgotten.<br/><br/>I've already lived through the hardest chapters of my story.<br/><br/>Now I'm ready for the happy ending.<br/><br/>Love,<br/><br/>**Chabella **<br/><br/>*"Some dogs spend their lives looking for a family.
