Monkey(The Howlers)'s Story
Meet the Howlers!
This litter of puppies is howling glad to meet people! They aren't much when hunting, but will unerringly search out your couch or bed for a good snooze :)

With a birthday of Nov. 7, 2025, these four babies were happy to meet our vet team - even when they had to get their vaccinations.

Monkey is the second to largest of the troop. At his most recent vet visit in May 2026 he weighed 58 lb. He is house trained, when taken out every two hours. He also paces when he has to go out and will step up onto his foster mom's lap to get her attention. He sits to wait for his meals and responds well to "come" in the house - he expects his timely arrival to be rewarded with a great treat :) He loves to eat and is food motivated, making training easier.

Monkey is leash savvy and enjoys sniff walks, but will pull to get to interesting things. He sleeps well in the bed with his foster mom and her pack, but will sleep in his crate if he has to. He wears a wrap ( https://www.chewy.com/pet-parents-belly-band-washable-male/dp/154022 ) in the bed to make sure everyone stays dry overnight. He can wait from 10 pm until 7 am with no issues - as long as he's sleeping. If the other dogs wake up, he needs to go potty.

During the day, Monkey goes out each time he wakes from a nap, or every 2 hours, to his "potty spot". At his foster home, this is about 6 feet off the carport which he's learned is where he goes potty. He doesn't get a walk during a potty break, just an opportunity to potty so he can learn that is Job #1 when he goes out :) He gets a good walk three times a day, as well as plenty of playtime with his doggy friends.

Monkey ignores the cats in his foster home, but is very interested in cats outside. He loves playing with the other dogs, from a 20 lb chiweenie to a 65 lb shepherd mix. He is doing well on recall in the yard and if he knows you have treats, he'll come at a run. Unless he's playing in the water - his foster has a small ornamental pond - in which case he'll clamber out and drip his way to her.

In his foster home, Monkey is known as "Laser" - or more formally as Could-you-B-Lazy-er? :) Warning - he'll sometimes find a sunny spot on walks and collapse for a nap.

**********************************************
IF YOU ARE USING PET FINDER:
Visit our website, www.foothillscaninerescue.org,
Choose Adopt/Adopt a Dog and find the dog you are interested in, Click the "Apply for Adoption" button to fill out an application.

The Adoption Fee includes: two vaccinations, deworming, and heart worm prevention when age-appropriate. Additional fees for a microchip, 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.

A refundable $75 Spay/Neuter deposit will be collected for unaltered puppies; The S/N deposit will be refunded when surgery is complete.

For a current Adoption Events schedule, visit us on Facebook.
