8-year-old, 20-pound Shiba Inu
Crate-trained
Mocho Jo, affectionately known as MJ, enjoys lounging outside in the sun and checking out what his foster humans and canine foster sisters are up to. He is a curious fella who is very interested in what is going on around him, but because he is initially afraid of humans, he requires patience and time as he gets to know you at his own pace.
MJ does well co-existing with other dogs and cats, and he does well with kids who respect his space and that he does not liked to be picked up or touched. He is getting more comfortable every day, but his forever humans should understand and respect that he does not liked to be picked up or touched and continued training, space, and patience will be important.
MJ is a typical Shiba Inu, independent, smart, and stubborn. He is also great at finding holes in fencing to wiggle through so if outside, he needs to always be on leash or be in a fenced area, at least four feet high, and with no gaps or holes.
He does very well when he has a routine. For MJ to thrive in an apartment or shared wall setting, there would need to be another animal in the home as he will howl when left alone. MJ has had a few accidents that we believe were due to stress, but otherwise has been doing his business outside and has started signaling when he needs to go outside.
MJ is still on his journey to be his best, most comfortable self but with continued support, patience, love and respect, he will get there!
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, & Bordetella), HW and flea/tick preventative, and microchip implant and registration. Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best guess.
Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 90-mile radius of Minneapolis; however, we will consider up to 250 miles if the adopter is willing to drive to cities as needed.
