Miss Trixxy Hound Mix Palatine, IL

Searching for a hero! Miss Trixxy is an approximately 5-year-old mixed-breed dog with a very sad background. Her smooth coat is mostly black with patches of white and she has a cropped tail. Her shy eyes and submissive appearance will quickly tug at your heartstrings, especially when you understand her story.

Miss Trixxy has had more than her share of bad luck. Abandoned as an adult dog, she came in on transport from Kentucky in September 2022. Unfortunately, she was attacked and severely injured by another dog and, though she has fully recovered from her injuries, she is still fearful of other dogs. Miss Trixxy quickly bonded with her new fosters, both the man and the woman in the home, and loves nothing more than to snuggle next to them or on their lap. She takes comfort from being close to the people she trusts. This is not a high energy dog demanding constant exercise and play – she craves love and attention.

Miss Trixxy’s fear of other dogs is evident on walks but because she is so small it is easy to manage by avoiding close contact with other dogs. She is highly treat-motivated, and her fosters always bring small treats to help distract Miss Trixxy if they are unable to avoid passing another dog. Her fosters always walk her in a secure harness to avoid the risk of her slipping her collar. Miss Trixxy very much enjoys taking walks, and with attention to these requirements is a pleasant walking companion. This adorable little dog also has some fears around unfamiliar people and is happiest kept safely away from strangers. Anxiety medications have helped to take the edge off her fear; it is advisable for Miss Trixxy to continue these medications.

This sweet girl is looking for a quiet home without other dogs or small children (they are too chaotic for her). All she really wants is a human or two to trust, snuggle with, and understand that she is finally safe. Watching her trust and confidence grow will be a tremendously rewarding experience for the right adopter. Could you be her hero?
