Minnie 's Story
MINNIE IS AVAILABLE AGAIN

Minnie - (female) DOB approx 2020
Minnie was adopted out a year ago but is found to be not good with young livestock so due to calving season she had to be returned and is now available again for adoption.

Minnie is a people dog and loves the water! She usually had her feet in her water bucket at the shelter and she loved having a pool to splash in on hot summer days. She's quite energetic and appears to have had at least one litter of pups previously. Unsure of her breed mix but she looks like there maybe a touch of doberman in there. She spent months at the shelter on her first go around and was very stressed in that environment, but away from the shelter chaos she's a different dog! So far now that she's returned she seems to be ok but has only been with us again for a couple weeks as of early May.

Well behaved, with good manners and loves to get out and about for a shopping trip or bath at the pet store. She was a little nervous at the start of her bath, but quickly relaxed. She didn't cry, bark or mind the blow dryer. Minnie is a Gem that needs a chance to show you that she can be a great partner. She is a great leash walker and knows the command sit.

On Dec 1/24 -a Volunteer took her home for a day's shelter break, which turned into full time foster home as she was so well behaved! She didn’t care about the cats in the foster home. She didn't mind being picked up to be carried upstairs until she learned how to do stairs in the home. She didn't mess in the home but may hold it longer than she should and should get regular times outside for bathroom duties. She's been taught to sit and wait until she's told she can eat her food.
Minnie will enter into a store calmly and isn't reactive to other dogs when out of the shelter. There were 3 dogs at a Pet/Santa photo event; one was growling at her and she just backed up into foster mom. A small dog was being very jumpy in her face and she just turned away. When with family member's yorkies she doesn’t bother them at all. She actually avoids the one who is dominant. She is kennel trained (only in it for 4 hours a day max) and doesn't make a peep while in the crate. Loves to play fetch and brings ball back waiting for it to be thrown again. She travels really well in a vehicle.
MINNIE has been around smaller dogs but does seem to be protective of food and may be food aggressive so any new home should be aware of this to watch for issues or feed separately.
This just goes to show how a shelter dog who is stressed there can shine when in a loving foster home!

She was spayed Aug 22/24.

Regular adoption fee for dogs is $300; if the dog is too young for spay/neuter prior to adoption then a $300 post dated spay/neuter deposit cheque (OR PAD form) is also required - we don't cash this cheque but hold it until cheque date and proof of S/N surgery provided by the date on the cheque - typically when the pup is 6 months of age. Occasionally we adopt out particular animals at fundraising prices to help offset our vet bills, each fundraiser dog will be posted as such with the adoption fee noted. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter and rabies ONLY if surgery is done with our Meadow Lake vet; otherwise adopters are responsible to pay those fees at their own vets.

Use our online application form found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Q1Xw1ArXT3owIBuG8O25Ioqmx1_NWGgi9eXIhOO_0dg/edit?pli=1

Also Join us online at - www.facebook.com/mldhs
We upload our pet's video clips to www.youtube.com/mldhs1 - search there by name of the animal that interests you; you may often find more than one clip.
