MILO's Story

Proudly Presenting MILO!

Milo is a lightweight Jindo/Shiba Inu mix from the San Bernadino High Kill shelter. He weighs about 34lbs, is microchipped, had Entropion surgery done successfully on both eyes, was thoroughly checked out by vet IN LA clinic where he also stayed for all procedures incl. IV due to Canine Mycoplasma pneumonia. He is neutered and up to date with Vaccinations- just hanging out here on Orcas Island, WA until the right person or family falls for him.

His personal goal of adoption is August 2023 (as he told me lately in confidence) - will you make that happen?
Background and behavior notes/assessment:

MILO was rescued by ADR.org On Orcas Island WA in May 2023 from the high Kill Animal shelter in San Bernadino and arrived with Ground transportation in June.

MILO made some friends since he has been on OI – he likes those that he can play rough and wrestle with - his favorite thing. He was tested with cats and is very curious. He would not hurt any cat intentionally, but he thinks he can wrestle with a cat like with a dog - and that might not be a positive situation for a cat.
So, caution and supervision may be needed continuously. Or no cat in the household.

MILO must have been punished a lot and must have experienced an abusive home before because in the first 3 weeks of him being with ADR.org he was very submissive and flinched every time you approached him. He showed insecurity when being leashed on and constantly tried to back off. On the other side, once he understood that nothing bad would happen to him, he enjoyed a scratch under the chin, and you could even pick him up without problems.
But Milo has moved on considerably and is moving on with his dog life.

MILO would be a formidable pet for a household that likes the outdoors, has a bigger fenced yard, AND pays attention to him. While he is crate trained, it would not be doing him any good to be isolated all day in it with little enrichment and stimulation.

Milo will enjoy a companion dog and benefit from a friendship. He does not always know how to properly introduce himself to another dog and some dogs will react by putting him in his place. He learns quickly.
He is alert and will alarm you when someone comes to the door or onto property. Hence, an apartment home might not be the best environment.

He loves to run and go on walks - he would go to the moon with you. Abundant stamina.

He loves good nutrition, but we have not been able to put some more pounds on his rips - still:)>>

ADR.org would love to talk to you to get to know you better over the phone before sending an application.

So please send an introductory email (with photos you want to share with MILO) to: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org. The founder of ADR.org will contact you within 48h.
But DO NOT expect any response on FB - as we only post dogs on ADR FB site.

MILO is looking forward to hearing from you!

WOOFLY,

MILO and ADR.org
