Millie's Story

Meet Millie

Millie is a 2-year-old Pug/Boston Terrier mix who is learning that the world can be a safe and happy place, and watching her confidence grow is truly special. Weighing about 21 pounds, this sweet girl is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and loved.

Millie came from a puppy mill and is still learning that the world can be a kind place. She is naturally quiet, skittish, and cautious around new people and situations. Sudden movements can startle her, and she prefers to build trust at her own pace. The good news? With a no-pressure approach, Millie has made incredible progress. She has discovered the joy of toys, loves to zoom around when she's feeling happy, and has learned to accept and enjoy gentle pets from people she trusts.

Once Millie feels comfortable, her adorable personality starts to emerge. She spins in circles when she's excited and greets her people with the cutest bark-howl combination that sounds like she's carrying on a conversation. It's impossible not to smile when she "talks" to you!

Millie has a medium energy level and does very well with other dogs. In fact, having another confident, friendly dog in the home is a must for her. She takes comfort from canine companions and has learned so much by watching the dogs around her. She also gets along well with cats.

Because of her fearful nature, Millie would likely do best in a quieter home without young children. Older, calm, respectful kids who understand that she needs patience may be a better fit.

Millie is mostly house-trained when kept on a consistent schedule, though she doesn't always let you know when she needs to go outside. She is not crate-trained or leash-trained and may experience some separation anxiety, so she'll need a family committed to helping her continue building confidence.

Millie's Ideal Home
* Another friendly, confident dog in the home
* Someone who is home much of the time
* A securely fenced yard (she is a flight risk)
* A patient adopter who will let her progress at her own pace
* A calm, predictable environment with few expectations and lots of understanding

Millie isn't looking for perfection, she's looking for kindness. She needs someone willing to celebrate the small victories, respect her boundaries, and let her learn that love doesn't have to be scary. In return, you'll get to watch a once-fearful dog blossom into her true self, one happy spin at a time.

If you have a gentle heart, a patient approach, and a dog looking for a new best friend, Millie may be the perfect addition to your family.

What's included in your adoption fee?
At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, every dog adopted comes with:
-Spay/Neuter
-Core vaccines
-Rabies vaccine (age dependent)
-4DX test for heartworm & tick-borne diseases (age dependent)
-Flea, tick & heartworm prevention
-Parasite treatment
-Dental surgery if recommended by our veterinary partner
-A session with a positive-reinforcement trainer
-30 days of Trupanion Pet Insurance
-Ongoing support from our team because adoption is just the beginning

Adoption Fee:
$850 Adults (17 years), spayed/neutered

Apply to adopt: https://form.jotform.com/243494963032258

#AdoptMillie #RescueDog #PuppyMillSurvivor #SecondChanceDog #ForeverHomeWanted #ShyButSweet #WorthTheWait #RescueDogLove #DogAdoption #PugMix #BostonTerrierMix #RescueIsMyFavoriteBreed #DogsofInstagram #AvailableForAdoption
