Mikey

Mikey is a 2-3 year old male Shih-Tzu who came to us because his owner passed away suddenly. Unfortunately, Mikey has not been well socialized in his younger years, so he is very nervous and can be defensive with new people until he gets to know them. After realizing that he has nothing to fear and his defensive behavior will not be tolerated, he does very well and wants nothing more than to be on your lap! Because of his lack of confidence and socialization, we are not recommending any young children in Mikey's new, forever home. Even having children as visitors will have to be taken with caution, as Mikey does not like quick movements or loud noises and we fear he could be defensively reactive to them. <br/>In his former home, Mikey has lived with another dog similar to his size, as well as a cat. Unfortunately, he did not have the best care at a young age, so Mikey will be receiving medicated baths, grooming and a dental procedure. Ideally, Shih-Tzu experience would be preferred, as Mikey will need to remain groomed as needed.<br/>Mikey's adoption fee is $200, which includes his dewormings, neuter/dental (scheduled for 1/12/22), grooming, vaccines and microchip (lifetime membership included). <br/><br/>*Please remember that we are a board of entirely volunteers that have full time jobs as well as our rescue passion.
