Miel Canelita's Story

Hi! I’m Miel Canelita, I’m 2.5 years old, I have a medium-length reddish-brown coat and beautiful honey-colored eyes. I’m expected to be a medium-sized dog.

Some time ago, I was wandering the streets alone, feeling very scared and cold because I was about to have my puppies. Just when it seemed there was no way out, some kind people opened the doors of their home to me. Thanks to them, my puppies were born in a safe place filled with warmth and love—and, most importantly, they were all happily adopted!

Shortly afterward, I was diagnosed with TVT. It was a difficult process, but thanks to my rescuer’s dedication, I received all my chemotherapy treatments. I was also diagnosed with ehrlichiosis and completed treatment at the beginning of the year, after which I was spayed. Through the adoption program, I was dewormed and vaccinated as well.

I’m pure sweetness: extremely affectionate, calm, and very sensitive. My specialty is giving lots of kisses and being the most loyal companion. I absolutely love going for walks in the park!

I’m used to living both indoors and outdoors, although I definitely prefer being inside. Maybe that’s why I quickly learned to let people know when I need to go potty and how to behave perfectly indoors.

I get along with dogs of all sizes and with three cats. In fact, I sometimes sleep with my favorite feline friend!

Now that I’ve left the difficult days, the streets, and illness behind, I’m completely ready for the next step: finding a loving forever family!

All I need now is a loving family who will welcome me with open arms, fill my days with affection and fun, and give me the happy life I deserve. Could that be with you?

Gente Por Los Animales's Adoption Policy
Once the adopter's information is submitted – name, phone number, address, email, and the name of the animal they wish to adopt – a volunteer from the organization will contact them within the next three business days, either electronically or by phone, to conduct an interview via video call in order to verify that the requirements are met and to complete the adoption form. If the application is approved, we will schedule the delivery of the dog or cat to begin their two-week trial period, allowing the adopting family to spend time with the animal and decide if they want to adopt them permanently. All animals are delivered dewormed, vaccinated, and sterilized. A recovery fee of 20 USD per animal is requested for delivery in Mexicali, Baja California. We can also cross the border to El Centro, Calexico, Heber, or Yuma, but in this case, it is necessary to place a microchip in the dogs, which incurs an additional cost of 25 USD. Eventually, we can transport the animals to San Diego or Los Angeles, but a 40 USD transportation fee is requested.
