Meet Mia

Sweet Mia, 2-1/2 years old and 32.6 lbs, came to JRTRO on August 27 after a long trip from Thailand.

On arrival to foster, she showed the obvious stress and fear of being in a totally new environment, however, in no time Mia bonded with the whole family including the 6 year old resident rescue dog. In fact Mia has transformed into the most affectionate dog the foster has ever had and her tail never stops wagging.

Mia will never be overweight, she is built like a pincer. Her foster gives her three pretty large meals a day and she has gained a few ounces, so while she looks thin that is just her build.

A timid little girl at first, Mia soon started to ask for ear rubs and to be pet. She loves to be brushed and gains trust easily. Despite her long legs, she wants to be a lapdog.

Naturally Mia had a few accidents indoors when first arriving to foster but after adjusting to her new environment she now goes to the door to let you know when she needs to go outside. She prefers going to the yard for toilet rather than while on her walks.

Mia is not a barker and shows no signs of separation anxiety or fear of storms. Mia is very good travelling in a vehicle and meets new people without aggression, including a neighbour's 8 year old. She walks well on a leash and does not react to cars, people, or dogs along the way.

The excellent vets in Thailand performed surgical patella fixation surgery on Mia and she recovered nicely. It is recommended that Mia’s adopter adheres to a light exercise regime to avoid placing any unnecessary stress on her joints. She is completely weight bearing on all four legs with no decreased activity and runs normally (enjoying herself immensely as you can see in her video).

Young Mia is a happy dog who is eager to please and responds immediately to NO if she is misbehaving. She has not destroyed anything in the foster home, even when left alone.

Mia would thrive in a home either with or without another dog. She enjoys romping around the securely fenced backyard at her foster home and would like that in her forever home. She particularly enjoys chasing squirrels!

Mia is a healthy dog with a normal blood profile. She would thrive in a home with or without another dog. All Mia needs is love and a family who will give her a few days to become comfortable and who will appreciate her gentle and affectionate nature. She will reward her family with much love and many years of companionship.
