These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found.<br/> <br/>This dog is currently located in: Texas<br/><br/>Meleys (20260823-01)<br/>DOB: 12/07/2025 Estimated<br/>Age: 8 months<br/>Weight: 21-30 lbs<br/><br/>Spayed/Neutered: Yes<br/><br/>Meleys is a little survivor with a HUGE personality!<br/><br/>Found as a stray after experiencing starvation, neglect and a nasty flea infestation, this sweet girl has left that difficult chapter behind and is ready to live the fun-filled life she deserves. She is incredibly friendly, outgoing and playful – if there is a game to be played, Meleys is ALL IN! She absolutely loves playing with other dogs, and despite her smaller size, she has an impressive ability to communicate her boundaries while respecting theirs. When playtime is over, she knows exactly when it’s time to settle down for the night and does beautifully in her crate.<br/><br/>Meleys is still working on her puppy manners, especially keeping all four paws on the floor, and she will need continued consistency with house training. She may be a little itchy as her skin continues to recover, but it has improved dramatically after treatment.<br/><br/>Meleys isn’t looking for perfection – she’s looking for a family ready to keep teaching, playing, laughing and loving her. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic little companion who is ready to put her past behind her, Meleys may be your girl!<br/><br/>Medical issues: Treated for Skin irritation/itchiness following previous flea infestation and neglect; recently completed a course of cephalexin with significant improvement. Hooded vulva noted by veterinarian; currently causing no issues and vet does not feel treatment is necessary at this time.<br/><br/>Crate size recommended: 18" x 27"<br/><br/>Good with adults: Yes<br/>Good with kids: Yes, friendly but can be a little jumpy<br/>Good with other dogs: Yes – loves to play with both male and female dogs and does a great job respecting their boundaries while confidently setting her own<br/>Good with cats: Unknown<br/>House trained: In progress, she has mastered using the doggy door but has had a few accidents indoors, particularly in the sunroom, so she needs continued consistency and reinforcement<br/>Crate trained: Yes, no accidents in her crate and settles quickly at night<br/>Energy level: High (still a puppy)<br/>Can be handled/touched: Yes<br/>Barker: Sometimes, but primarily in a playful manner<br/>Flight risk: Somewhat, she has jumped the fence before, but instead of running away, she sat at the garage door waiting to be let back inside<br/>Food aggressive: No<br/>Current food: Nature’s Select<br/>Walks on leash: Yes, with a small amount of resistance<br/>Leash reactive to people or dogs: No known reactivity<br/>Rides well in car: Yes<br/>Destructive: No, she may steal a house shoe and hide it, but she doesn’t destroy things<br/>Needs a home with a yard: Yes, due to her high energy<br/>Needs a home with another dog: No, but she would thrive with a canine playmate<br/>Can live in an apartment: No
