Melba's Story

Melba is a deserving little "project dog" who will need a patient, calm home where she can feel safe and thrive. She is very skittish and although she likes to be around her people, she has not warmed up to the idea of being petted yet. Melba is very interested in her person and will give kisses to her foster mom's fingertips and follow her all over the yard while her foster mom gardens. Melba just isn't comfortable being pet yet and does not cuddle.

Because Melba is a project dog, her adoption fee is lower in the hopes that a dog savvy person will consider giving her a chance and continue her socialization and training.

- 20 pounds and approximately 2 years old

- Possibly a Chihuahua/Pug mix

- Seeking a home with another friendly dog to pal around with. Melba is fostered with large dogs and has done well with them. She follows the lead of other dogs and has been submissive in nature.

- We have not seen her with cats but we predict she will be fine with cats.

- Super cute, endearing little dog who survived being abandoned on a property in California with a litter of puppies.

- Calm in the home and mostly naps on her bed. She does have a playful side with other dogs and gets excited to romp with them.

- Crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate at night

- Has only had one potty accident during her time in foster and readily goes potty outside in the yard and will also potty on leash.

- On the quiet side, Melba isn't much of a barker so far. She does some cute little whines to show you she's interested in you though and wants to be included.

- Still learning to feel comfortable out in the neighborhood on walks. Mostly a homebody but is learning that walks are fun. She especially likes to be with other dogs on walks since they boost her confidence and she follows their lead.

Melba is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm/dewormer. Her adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin.

$100 adoption fee

Fostered in Oregon City, Oregon

APPLY TO ADOPT MELBA ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG
