Max's Story
Max is a 1 yr +/- Aussiedoodle. He came to us from an overcrowded high kill shelter in southern Idaho. He came to us with a gimpy right rear leg. He hadn't been examined. When our vet had him under for neutering. She took some x-rays and discovered that his hip was completely out of joint. It had been dislocated for quite some time. The tendons and muscles had contracted and she recommended a femoral head osteocetomy surgery. An fho surgery removes the ball of the joint and rebuilds the joint with muscle and ligament. After 6 weeks of healing the joint scars over and becomes good as new. He will never suffer arthritis in that hip. Because he's so young, he healed without complications and is as happy as can be and now completely out of pain. He is a super friendly dog, loves other dogs and all people that he meets. He does chase cats a little, but that could be curbed and trained out of him. He does not have a prey drive. He is extremely athletic despite his injury and would make an excellent Pacific Northwest outdoor exploring partner. He is housebroken crate trained walks beautifully on a leash and has excellent off lead recall. He has a wavy wirey more poodle type coat that does not shed and will need regular professional grooming. This can be expensive so keep that in mind when applying.
