Looking for a friend who’s a little older, wiser and sweet as can be? Meet Maude! She’s around 10 years old and loves everyone she meets. She knows how to mind her manners, whether she’s walking on leash or mastering tricks like sit, down and shake. She leaves the shoe-chewing and squirrel-chasing to the young pups and focuses on what’s important—people! It’s no wonder she quickly became a shelter favorite, but they’re ready for her to find the happy home she deserves.

Maude was found tied to the fence at Animal Control, and although her previous person never claimed her it’s clear that she’s used to loving and being loved. Maude is affectionate and bonds quickly; all she wants is to hang around her human. Because of that, she can be pretty vocal when she’s left alone. She has a bit of a limp, so exercise should be monitored. But extra-long walks aren’t her thing anyway, she would much rather be curled up by your side watching a good movie.

Maude would probably love living with respectful kids or confident, dog-savvy cats. She would be happiest as the only dog in the house, though. Don’t worry, this lady has more love to give than a whole pack of puppies!

Born Again Pit Bull Rescue regularly works with the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Del Norte County Animal Control Shelter located in Crescent City, CA—a small coastal town on the OR/CA border. The Del Norte Shelter is a limited facility in a rural area that's often at capacity. While the dedicated staff and volunteers that run the shelter offer the dogs as much comfort and compassion as possible, they struggle with low budgets, aging buildings, small indoor kennel runs, odd adoption viewing hours and low foot traffic. If you're considering adoption, the folks at Del Norte have a wide variety of wonderful dogs looking for homes to call their own and they're ready to help match you to the right one!

The Del Norte County Animal Control Shelter is open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm. They are typically closed Saturdays and Sundays though sometimes offer special weekend adoption hours.
