Marley's Story

Hello there! I'm Marley,

Female - spayed
Rottweiler Mix
Approx. 4 years old

Upon our first introduction, you might notice that I'm a bit shy and fearful. But with a sprinkle of patience and some positive introductions, you'll see my true colors shine through as I transform into a happy-go-lucky girl with a wagging tail.

I absolutely adore yummy treats! However, with the warm weather approaching, I realize it's time to get my beach body in shape. I enjoy my meals at a normal pace and take my treats like a nice lady, savouring each bite.

I'm not the biggest fan of toys, but occasionally, I do enjoy playing with a stuffy squeaky toy. It's just the thing to bring out the playful side in me.

I must admit, my leash manners are a work in progress. I'm a determined lady and can be a bit stronger than expected when I'm on the hunt for delicious treats. While I'm working on perfecting my leash etiquette, I'm proud to share that I know some basic obedience commands, such as "sit"-especially when a treat is involved!

When it comes to body handling, I tend to be reserved and cautious, so a bit of reinforcement would help me feel more comfortable.

I would thrive in a quiet, laid-back home without children or other animals. It's the perfect environment for me to blossom and share my love.

Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre's Adoption Policy
We at the Georgina Animal Shelter strive to find the best possible outcomes for the homeless cats and dogs that enter our care care. The majority of pets we receive have no known medical or behaviour histories. Each pet is continually assessed throughout its time in our care. All pets receive an individualized animal welfare plan including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, anti-parasitic treatments, nutritional plan and any other medical treatments or behvaiour modifications deemed necessary. Temperament and personality assessments allow us to better match pets with potential adopters. Completing a detailed adoption questionnaire helps to ensure that we are matching perspective adopters with the pet that is best suited to their home environment and lifestyle. We want each adoption to be a success and pride ourselves in providing a transparent and thorough adoption process. To ensure adoption compatibility, follow up calls and/or emails are provided to each adopter to ensure that the transition of their new pet into their home is successful. If you would like to inquire about a pet that is available for adoption, contact us at 1-800-898-8606 or email us at animal-control@georgina.ca to learn more.
