She may also mistake items like doormats for pads.

- Transitioning Outside: She is learning to leash-walk and will potty outdoors, but does not wait to be taken out.

- The Commitment: Breaking her indoor pad habit will take strict supervision, restricted house freedom, and long-term consistency. Adopters must be prepared for the reality that retraining will take significant time and effort, and she may always remain partially reliant on pads.

Quirks & Ideal Home

When overexcited or nervous in new, Maple tends to drool significantly, though her confidence improves with regular outings.

Due to her petite size and structured training needs, she is best suited for an adult household, though one with older kids living there or older children visiting occasionally would be fine (no young kids, please).

If you are looking for a joyful, hilarious shadow and are ready to manage her potty routine with patience and good humor, Maple is ready to meet you!

Good w/ Other Dogs- Yes
Good w/ Cats- Yes
Energy Level- Low to moderate
Children- 8 and older
Grooming Needs- High
Walks on Leash- Yes
Special Needs- No
Knows basic commands- Learning
Experienced Home- Required
Good First Time Dog- No
Rides well in car- Yes, but may drool
Crate Trained- Yes
Low Allergen- Yes
Good apartment dog- Possibly
Fenced Yard- Preferred

Adoptive homes within 1 hour of Raleigh, NC area only.

If you are interested in adopting this pet, please copy and paste this link to our adoption survey into your browser: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSczh9StAiRY4XnFt79xI3aCGpyhMh0Kg5UzQo0a3CyVWhP9Fw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Meetings with our pets, outside adoption events, are currently made only with an approved adoption survey.

All HEART dogs have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, bordatella, distemper, parvo, adenovirus, and hepatitis.
