Luigi's Story

Luigi is one of those dogs that you just can’t get enough of! He’s lovable, friendly, perfectly pint-sized at only 35-40 lbs, and he’s just so dang happy! Luigi joined MHCR in November of 2025. Why in the heck is he just NOW preparing to find his forever home? Well, let’s just say he needed a little work done. Luigi had a horrible hip on one side due to prior unknown injury and needed an FHO. He recovered absolutely beautifully from that surgery and is medically cleared on that side. His OTHER back leg had a really badly luxated patella and he needed a 2nd surgery to get that leg all dialed in. He’s 6 weeks into his recovery and is expected to be cleared in early June. We’d love for him to be able to transition directly into his forever home when that happens! At only around 2 years old, Luigi is still very playful and puppy-like in nature. He ADORES children and would thrive in a home with a family of his own. He’s incredibly dog friendly and we feel it’s an absolute must for him to have at least one canine companion in his new home. Luigi has been house trained and crate trained in his foster home and we expect him to demonstrate the same in his adoptive home when he learns the routine. We aren’t entirely sure what his breed mix is, but he’s built like a small boxer (longer, skinny legs, deep chest) with the head of a Frenchie. He definitely has Boxer/Frenchie vibes and would be a fun addition to either breed enthusiast…plus he can breathe properly which makes him a great adventure buddy!

Luigi is being fostered in Brighton, Colorado.

*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.*

You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/luigi/.

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
