Meet Lucky Duck
I'm a 3 year old, 19 pound face-licking, couch-cuddling dog. I love walks and car rides, treats, lying in the sun, body massages, back scratches, and did I mention cuddling with my human? My foster mum calls me silly as I like to amuse myself with my toys but I also like to play fetch and tug with her too. I'm good with dog savvy cats and will sometimes try to play with them. I'm great in the crate and I'm housebroken as long as I'm kept on a strict schedule.
I'm definitely a one person kind of dog and need to live in a female home...sorry guys, you too kids! It takes a couple of days for me to trust you. Even though I may lie next to you or follow you around, it doesn't mean I'm ready for you to touch me. It takes about a week before I start to show you my silly side and start giving you kisses. All I ask is that you are patient with me. I promise I'm worth the wait.
I have something that causes my skin to be super-itchy. I take an Apoquel pill every day and may need cytopoint injections if I get really itchy. Both help in reducing my itchiness and they're something I will need for the rest of my life, or until we know what is causing it. Another thing I need to take for life is thyroid medication which is very inexpensive. Because of my skin allergies, I must be kept on a high quality diet. I like kibble so brands like Fromm and Orijen are excellent. I can't eat any kibble with corn, by-products, or grain.
No apartments for me as I bark whenever I hear or see people and vehicles outside or hear neighbors through the wall. I'm fine with dogs outside my home but I have attitude with them inside. Same with scaredy cats - my inner rascal comes out and I will chase them. I respect the kitties that stand up for themselves.
I'm up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
