Lottie - SCROLL TO WRITTEN BIO BEFORE CONTACTING US's Story

PLEASE READ ALL BELOW BEFORE REACHING OUT AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS - NO PHONE CALLS UNTIL WE RECEIVE AND APPROVE AN APPLICATION - THIS IS NOT A FARM DOG, WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED AS AN INDOOR FAMILY MEMBER

Lottie is an approximately 2 & 1/2 year old spayed female Great Pyrenees (we think she is possibly mixed with Australian Shepherd, but she could also just be.a small female Great Pyrenees).. She came to our rescue just before Christmas of 2025 after a court case in Tennessee where Lottie's person ended up with jail time after he was found physically abusing Lottie. Despite the abuse, Lottie is an incredibly sweet girl to her people. SHE IS a typical Great Pyrenees mix, weary of strangers at first and barks at them and barks in general when she hears noises or sees strangers or wildlife out the window. One thing we need to point out is that one of Lottie's front paws was some how previously injured and her former human never sought treatment, so her paw is deformed ( see last 2 pictures). We have had an Orthopedic Specialist examine her foot and they determined that it can be corrected with surgery. Our rescue is committed to paying for the surgery as long as the surgery is done by our Specialist in Madison, Wisconsin. We would love to find an adopter in our city of Rockford, Illinois, OR between Rockford and Madison to make transporting her to our specialist easier. Just please note, If we are to transport her, surgery will have to wait until this Fall.because of our business and the nature of what we do includes travel in the warmer months. Our Vet has said that Lottie can live with her leg the way it is, it does not seem to hurt her. We would love to see Lottie find her person as soon as possible and we hope this does not cause anyone to not want to give Lottie the life that she VERY MUCH deserves. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is housebroken. Meet and greets will be tricky, because she is initially scared of strangers and barks at them. She did this with us when she first met us, but after she gets to know you she is really the sweetest girl. She has a prey drive so NO CATS. She was fine when meeting a small dog through the fence that we had in our rescue, but barks at bigger dogs and doesn't seem to like them. We are hoping to find a home for Lottie where she can be the only dog and the focus can be on her. She REALLY could benefit from leash training, although she does a little better wearing a harness. As far as kids, she does sometimes jump on people, so we recommend only older, gentle kids who have been taught how to respectfully treat animals. Potential adopters MUST have a fenced yard. We adopt to those who own their home or if you rent, you must be the primary tenant on your lease and have a positive, verifiable rental history and verifiable employment. If the above sounds like the kind of home and life that you can provide for this sweet girl, please email us at: brittonsanctuary@yahoo.com and in the subject line please write: Ready to commit to Lottie. Please do not contact us if you are just window shopping and you and everyone in your home are not ready to welcome Lottie as a PERMANENT family member
