Meet Little Miss Penny
BACKGROUND: Penny came to the rescue as an owner surrender very skinny and not doing well. She weighed at that time 53 pounds. She was loved but due to family circumstances, Penny came to the rescue in hopes of getting medical attention & finding another loving family who can care for her.
HEALTH: After running some tests, we found out she was suffering from EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency). If the pancreas fails to produce enough digestive enzymes, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, or EPI, develops. Because she was missing these enzymes she was not able to properly metabolize her food properly. With the help of her foster family, we started her on an enzyme powder, which is put on her food daily and she is now a healthy weight of 90 pounds! To maintain her healthy weight she needs this powder on her food. This doesn't faze Penny at all, she loves to eat and with the powder she is able to absorb nutrition :) The powered enzymes cost between $60 and $80 dollars a month. Her coat is super soft and beautiful.
LIKES: Pet me! Love me! Let's play fetch! Oh boy :) She is a people person & enjoys hunting critters.
PERSONALITY: Penny is a very sweet girl who loves her family and loves to hang out with her humans. She is very affectionate & likes to cuddle. She is a happy lovable girl. She walks wonderfully on a leash, gives paw and knows how to sit. She also likes to sleep on the bed with her human. She listens very well and would love a family to spoil her all day.
OTHER DOGS: She has lived with other male dogs in the home but would prefer not to have to share a home with another pup again. She knows how to enjoy her human so much that she just doesn't want to share. She does well with children but no small animals, please.
