Meet Little Man

Does everyone remember Little Man? He's a local little Chihuahua fellow that came to us when his owner went on dialysis and could no longer care for him. He is a bit shy around new people, but since in his foster home, he has been getting better. Once he gets to know you, he will never forget you and he will be your loyal companion lifelong. Little Man is just about 2 years old and 10# so the perfect size to travel. He is a very energetic little guy and loves going on walks and hiking. He also loves playing with other animals. He is housebroken and crate trained and just a little love bug. The perfect home for him would be a person who likes going for walks, hiking and also spending quality time with their fur kids. Due to his shyness, we are recommending kids in the home be over 12 years old. He is great with other other pets in the home so that shouldn't be an issue, but a meet and greet with pets in the home would be a must.
For more information about how to make our Little Man yours, please send an application our fill out the jotform below!
He has been fully vetted, an adoption donation of $400 is being asked to cover of portion of his veterinary and care fees.

12/3/22: Update: Foster to adopt home needed!
Little man has been in a new foster home for a few weeks now and has been doing well! He likely will take at least a few days to start to get comfortable in a new home since he is very fearful at first until he knows he is in a safe environment. He's been great with other small dogs and cats in his current foster home and his foster mom is his best friend. Little Man is her shadows around the house and he loves the one on one attention he gets with her; he just wants someone to hold and cuddle him all of the time. When strangers or other family members come around, he is still pretty shy, but he's getting more comfortable every day. He is sensitive to loud noises and fast movement so we think he would be best in a home with children 12 and over. Little Man is mostly house broken, but he occasionally has an accident and needs some more training to be 100%. When Little Man's owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for him and his brother Roy, we knew they deserved at least a chance on a new home, despite needing work on socialization. We hope you will agree and show him there is a home out there for him, somewhere, and with a little patience, TLC and compassion, we know you will see that he truly is a good boy and just needs a chance.

11/5/22:
Say Hello to one of our newest local dogs surrendered when his owner was having health issues and would be out of the home and in a care facility for an extended time. Little Man, and his brother Roy, never really got a chance to meet anyone but their owner so they are very fearful of people at this time. We don't think they will be this way forever and we have been working with them to bring them out of their shell more and more this past week. They just need a patient home willing to show them the ropes and teach them that life out there isn't such a scary thing. We think once they get to know a family, they will bond very closely with them and likely be inseparable. We have separated Little Man and his brother in boarding since they seem to be more easily worked with and less fearful being apart so we are looking for two separate homes for them. They are both 10 months old and under 13#. Though we don't know much about them just yet, we know they deserve a chance at love and a new life. It's all any of these dogs ask for and deserves. Once we get to know them a little better, we will post more!

We would really like to see each of them get in to a foster to adopt home this week so that they can start their journey with their new family soon. With an approved application, they will be able to be placed into foster or a foster to adopt home where they can start their individual training, socialization and bonding with a new family prior to adoption. It's an opportunity to really get to know a dog before committing to adoption while getting to help us safe a life in the meantime. Once each is neutered and their vaccines are finalized in 3 weeks, if they is a good fit, they can each be officially adopted! If not "the one" for you, we will search for their new forever home. Its a win-win.

Prerequisites for foster to adopt are as follows:
?Living within an hour of Adams, NY so they can get follow up vaccines and spay/neutered when old enough.
?Other dogs/cats in the home will need to be tested with them to be sure they is a good fit.
?Having a verifiable veterinary reference for current/previous pets
(cats and dogs in the home must be current on vaccines, in annually and spay/neutered)
?Children over 14 years old in the home are preferred since we don't know his previous child experience and he is slow to warm up to strangers/loud noises.
?All members of the family, including dogs, should be present at pick to be sure he will be accepted
