Little Bit's Story

**ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS**
Little Bit is a 4-year-old, 16-pound Bichon/Cockapoo mix who was surrendered when his owner could no longer physically or financially care for him.

He arrived with a heavily overgrown and matted coat, and we did the best we could to get him comfortable—and somewhere underneath all that hair, we found his eyeballs! Little Bit is a gentle, sensitive guy who has had his entire world turned upside down. Right now, he is understandably overwhelmed and looking for security and reassurance.

Little Bit has done well with other dogs and lived with dogs in his previous home. Loud or rambunctious dogs can be scary for him, so calmer canine friends may be more his speed. We have not introduced him to cats. He just got here, and for his sanity we are keeping things slow and giving him time to decompress rather than throwing every new experience at him at once.

Little Bit was reportedly housebroken in his previous home, but upheaval and drastic changes can affect even a previously housebroken dog. His new family will need to offer patience while he settles in and learns a new home, schedule and routine.

His future family must also understand that grooming is a lifelong necessity. Little Bit will require regular grooming and coat care to keep his beautiful coat healthy, comfortable and free of painful mats.

Little Bit was previously neutered and microchipped. We have brought him current on vaccines, given him a dewormer, started flea/tick prevention, and he tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
