I am Lexi AKA – the best dog. I fell on hard times, left at my old home but I was taken in and that is what matters. I will get over it. Life has a way of humbling you sometimes and that is how my foster family describes me. They say I am the most humble and gracious dog.
I am grateful. Since I am so calm and laid back, I have a lot of respect for the nice things in the home. I like to lay on the dog bed in the room with you, watch you, and just chill. I like doggie playmates and crouch down to them to let them know I am good – no threats here. I would like a doggie friend.
I am leash trained – they think I have been tied out most of my life, but I am starting to understand they are attaching that leash to go hang out with me on a walk not to just leave me on it. I LOVE TO GO FOR WALKS. I do fine walking on a fairly busy street and am not fearful of the cars. I have a keen since of smell and love to investigate new smells. I especially like the smell of rabbits – they cause me to become very excited but I can be redirected.
Did I say I like to go for walks – yes I did. I also like to hang on the deck and just watch the peacefulness of nature.
I am house trained; crate trained and love the little morsels they use to train me. I know sit, watch me, and wait, and am learning stay. They are proud of me. I sleep in a crate at night, which I enjoy, but I also like to sleep on beds.
What matters most is that our styles complement each other, so what do you think? Ask about the mature, independent 6-year-old female lab/hound mix. I am heartworm positive but with treatment (starting very soon) I will be as good as new. Everything else checks out - you know how that feels. Love, Lexi.



I am about 7-8 years old. I am currently getting heartworm treatment and will need a local adopted who can take me for my follow-up visits in Conover, NC for 2 months.
