Lael's Story

Meet Lael a 2-year-old girl with oversized ears, a permanent smile, and an open heart pointed at whoever is nearest.

-- PLEASE READ FIRST --
Lael is currently in South Korea and can fly to the U.S. with a flight volunteer once matched to a family. To be considered, a complete written adoption application must be submitted first.

All approved adopters begin with a two-week trial and monitoring period to help ensure a safe, thoughtful, and long-term match while Lael adjusts to her new environment and family.

Apply to Adopt Lael: https://forms.gle/UmpfbgmydH7igSdN7
More Photos & Videos (Google Album): https://photos.app.goo.gl/R3aekSHvqChZEj246

Adoption Fee: $650
Includes spay surgery, vaccinations, microchip, veterinary exam, official health certificate, pre-departure veterinary care, and international transportation to the U.S.

Lael was found at Hongseong shelter after giving birth, left alone with no one coming back for her. She was rescued and has been in foster care ever since where she has made it abundantly clear that all she has ever wanted is a person of her own to stay close to.

-- PEOPLE --
Lael walks up to complete strangers, sits down next to them, and acts like she has known them her whole life. She approaches new people with curiosity and warmth, lets anyone hold her without hesitation, and stays close to whoever is in the room even someone she just met five minutes ago. She has no gender preference and no warming-up period. One small note: people wearing dark clothing at night make her slightly uneasy and she may quietly move away she has never barked or snapped, she simply removes herself, which is very much her style.

-- OTHER DOGS --
Lael lives peacefully with a 5-year-old female mixed breed foster dog no resource guarding, no conflict. She is mildly jealous when the other dog gets attention and will nudge her way in to be included, but without any aggression. With unfamiliar dogs she needs time: she greets briefly on walks and moves on, and will initiate play only with dogs she already knows well. She genuinely prefers people over dog play. Best matched as an only dog or with a very calm, low-key companion.

-- CATS & CHILDREN --
Lael will try to chase cats on walks. She stops when told no, but given this instinct, homes with cats are not recommended. With children: calm, quiet children are welcome she sniffs them and accepts their touch easily. If a child rushes toward her loudly she will move away, but she has never barked or snapped.

-- DAILY LIFE --
Lael is settled and easy at home. Very low barking she occasionally barks at large shapes passing the window or cats outside, and stops the moment she is told no. No destructive behavior. One endearing quirk: if left alone for a long stretch, she carries a shoe from the entryway into the house holds it gently and never chews it, as if keeping something that smells like you close by. Car rides are easy no motion sickness, calm throughout, waits patiently to be lifted in.

-- EXERCISE --
Lael gets two walks daily a short morning walk of about 10 minutes and a longer evening walk of around 1.5 hours. She loves walking and runs to the door the moment she hears the word. She pulls mildly on leash but not severely. She is a dedicated sniffer and will linger on interesting spots. Loud vehicles or motorcycles passing close by cause her to freeze briefly she recovers quickly once they pass. She will pick up street food but releases it without any fuss when asked.

-- HEALTH --
Lael was successfully treated for anaplasmosis (a tick-borne bacterial infection) prior to foster care and has made a full recovery with no ongoing issues. Currently healthy with no special care needs. Care note: she has a small, fine-boned frame avoid encouraging her to jump from heights to protect her knees. No allergies thoroughly tested across chicken, duck, lamb, rice, fish, pork, beef, and dairy, all clear. Monthly parasite prevention: NexGard Spectra on the 13th of each month.

-- IDEAL HOME --
Lael needs a home where she will not spend long hours alone she is deeply people-attached and does best when someone is around for most of the day, or when there is another calm, quiet dog to keep her company. She loves gentle outdoor time park picnics, easy hikes, neighborhood wandering. She is a fast learner who adapts quickly to new environments. When something unsettles her she retreats rather than reacts a family that can gently buffer stressful situations for her will bring out her very best.

She came to us after giving birth alone in a shelter, and yet she has no walls up at all. She carries a shoe to the middle of the room when she misses you. She sits next to strangers like she has been waiting for them. She is easy, she is gentle, and she deserves a home that will be there for her the way she will be there for them.

Learn more about us:
Website: neveralonerescue.org
Instagram: instagram.com/neveralonerescue
