Lady Border Collie Mix Portland, OR

Lady, a 2 year old 45 pound Border Collie mix, comes to us from a local shelter. After just having had puppies, Lady's previous owners attempted to surrender her. When they were turned away, as the shelter was too full, Lady was left in the street for animal control to pick her up. Scared and shut down in that environment, we stepped in to help and get Lady into a foster home. We also promised her she'd soon forget about that sad beginning!

Lady is a delightful young dog. Like most Border Collies, Lady is whip-smart and eager to please. It took about 5 seconds to teach her sit and down. She loves to run and would be a perfect jogging buddy. Lady also enjoys playing fetch, and that would be a good alternative for exercise for her. She is happy to meet any dog and has not shown aggression, even toward small dogs that nip at her. Lady was polite to the cats in her foster home, and the dog savvy cat felt comfortable enough to head-butt her. However, Lady is a puppy at heart, and if a cat runs, she'll playfully chase it. Slow introductions are recommended.

Lady is quiet in her crate, even in a busy environment, and is not destructive. She is also potty trained. Lady does need some help with her leash training. She is a busy girl and wants to get where she's going; however, this is something she's happy to keep working on. Lady's ideal home is active and her ideal adopters are excited to help her keep learning.

Like all of our Stumptown Strays, Lady is current on her flea and heartworm preventions, is heartworm negative and is current on vaccines. She is also spayed and microchipped.
