Kirk's Story
Kirk is an 8 pound, 6-month-old Chiweenie/Minpin mix who was rescued on New Year's Eve after being found outside in a field all by himself with fireworks exploding in the sky. He was born with a deformed front right paw which never fully developed toes. He has just one nail on this paw and he skips when he walks but it sure as heck doesn't slow him down any.

We believe that Kirk was raised indoors on training pads. He will go potty outside with no problem, but when he's inside and needs to go, he looks for a "mat" or "pad" to use. In his foster's home he wears a belly band and that has solved any mishaps, but an adopter may also want to set up an area with a potty pad for him to utilize as well.

Kirk doesn't know he's only 8 pounds. He plays with Ruby, a 40-pound Staffie the same as he plays with his girlfriend, Sweetie: a 15-pound Chihuahua mix. He loves to be mischievous and will turn on his charm if another dog has something that he wants. If charming doesn't work, then he'll roll over on them or bark at them until all is forfeited. Another playmate in the home is necessary for this boy's happiness. Sweetie is adoptable and an option as a good pairing if an applicant doesn't have a 2nd dog.

Kirk will protest to being crated but eventually settles down. He's very much a velcro dog and loves to be close to his people. When given the opportunity, he'll snuggle down for an 8-hour nap at night and not make a peep in his foster mom and dad's bed. He would love to do this every night but alas, so would every one of the other fosters in his home.

Kirk chases cats. We're not sure what he'd do with one if he caught it, but it's fair to say it wouldn't end well for either. For the sanity of all felines, a home with no cats is preferred.

This little guy isn't done growing yet. He can still fit through a 4" square, and his future home will need a proper fence to keep him safe. Apartments are an option if you've also got an outdoor area attached as Kirk is very much a lover of the outdoors.

Children old enough to understand that Kirk is not a toy and needs to be handled with great care are welcome!

Kirk is fully vetted, leash trained, crate trained and an absolute joy to have around.

We only use trusted transporters to deliver our adopted good catches North.
