Keith Summary:
Keith is a 9-10-year-old, 57lb Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix. Keith is a total sweetheart. They say he is around 9, but you would never think so! He enjoys playing with some of the other dogs around here. He enjoys tossing toys around. He likes to cuddle. Sometimes he thinks the less personal space the better! We don’t know what his life has been like, but he definitely deserves a great home! Dogs don’t get much sweeter than this boy!

Keith would do well as an only dog. If there is another dog, he would like that too, as he likes to play. He has not been around kids while he’s been with us, but I think he would do fine.

Hopefully, you guys didn't forget about sweet Keith! This handsome boy originally came into our program in the beginning of January. However, he had a lot more going on than a bad case of mange. He was also heartworm positive and malnourished. It took a bit to get him healthy again, but now that his fur is coming back in nicely, he has undergone heartworm treatment, and he is feeling so much better...it is time for him to find his forever family!

Keith didn't have the easiest life. We are unsure of his past, but we ended up crossing paths when he was found as a scraggly stray with lots of fur loss. He ended up being picked up and taken to the shelter. He looked so pitiful and sad in the shelter, and we just knew we had to help him! We were quite surprised to find out that he was actually a senior, but despite what his age may suggest...he acts like a total puppy! This is the first time in probably a long time that Keith can just be a carefree and happy dog! He loves playing, he loves throwing toys in there, and it is so fun to watch the light come back into this guy's eyes!

Keith has the best personality! He does great when meeting new people and will come right up to them. He won't jump and he isn't pushy though, after saying hi he tends to go off and do his own thing. He has not had the chance to go to any public outings so we are unsure how he would do. He is leash trained though and does enjoy going for walks. As far as hikes go, it is hard to say how he would do. He would definitely love exploring and getting to be with his people, but we are unsure of his stamina if they were really long. Keith is a little apprehensive about the car, but once is he does great.

Keith is pretty calm and laid back. He does like to play some though. Keith is quite dignified and doesn't take interest in playing fetch or in the water. However, when he gets a toy in his mouth he turns into a total puppy. He will throw it in the air, carry it around, and just have the time of his life.

Keith has not shown to have any issues with food aggression or resource guarding in his foster home. He has excellent house manners and can be given free roam. At night or when his fosters are away, he is given free-roam of the house and does great. Keith is potty and kennel trained. Keith is definitely a candidate for apartment living, however, they would need to be on the ground floor. Along with that, he still has a decent amount of energy so would need a good exercise plan in place. Keith has not shown to be much of a barker in his foster home.

Keith is good with other dogs and cats. It is unknown how he would do with kids since his foster family does not have any.

While we do adopt out of state, you would be responsible for picking your new dog up. We do not send our dogs on transport. This way you and your new fur baby can already begin the bonding process on the way back home, and it limits the stress on the dog.

Keith's adoption fee is $150
That will include his DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. He will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
