This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Kalu - a 5 year old, 38 pound, Black Lab mix boy.

Kalu had been running around a neighboring city from the rescue in Tennessee for MONTHS when our rescue partner was made aware of him. They let
animal control know if they could trap him that they would commit to helping him him. Kalu had been staying behind a local hotel and the owners there would feed him. They sat a trap and got him.

Kalu has made tremendous progress since we coming into rescue. He was so scared at first he would cower if anyone went near him to pet him. He is still learning that humans are good - but he has come so far! He now walks like a dream on a leash and actually accepts being loved on. He will need an extremely patient home that is willing to put in the work to socialize and teach him all things. We think kids would be too much for him - so a quiet adult only home would be best. And we think a fenced yard would be best too. He has done well with the dogs here in rescue - so he could be a single dog or have a canine friend to keep him company. He may need time invested to be his best....but we know his best will something that will make any home thrilled!"

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
