JENNY's Story
Hola! My name is JENNY, and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Chihuahua Mix (best guess really!)
Age: 2 years (Est. DOB: June 1, 2024)
Gender: Female
Weight: 24 lbs (10.9 kg)
Height: 50 cm (paws to top of my head) and 40 cm (paws to shoulders)
Length: 64 cm (head to butt)
Neck Circumference: 30 cm
Chest Circumference: 51 cm
Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY – My life hasn't been a walk in the park so far. I was left tied to a post in an empty area in Cuautepec, on the outskirts of Mexico City, with my 9 puppies. Fortunately, some kind rescuers found us in August 2025 and took us in (video). My rescuers say I was underweight when rescued, having fed my pups without eating myself, and they don't know how long I had been abandoned. They also think this was my first litter as I was a young pup myself at the time of rescue. Since having been rescued, however, life has been on the up and up! My babies and I have loved life at the shelter Almost all my pups have been adopted in Canada (my son Erick, who you can see here, has just been put up for adoption as well), and now it's our turn to find our furever families!

TEMPERAMENT - I'm a sweet, easy-going gal who is looking for a relaxing place to call home. If you are seeking a low-energy companion to cozy up with during those crisp Canadian winters, I think I could be your perfect match! I can be a little shy and curious of new people at first, but once I get in a good sniff and build some confidence, I show my love in a very polite and gentle way (just look how nicely I take treats in this video!) I'm super affectionate with people I'm familiar with!

ENERGY LEVEL – Low/Medium. Don't get me wrong, I can be a playful girl! But I prefer leisurely, calm strolls over marathon hikes. I would thrive in a less-active family, or with someone looking for a quiet, gentle best friend to share peaceful days with

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Yes. After a calm and slow introduction, I can politely say “hello” to kiddos - see this video where I'm happily accepting pets!

As with all dogs, I should be supervised around children and should have my space advocated for by adults. I can be timid, so a home with young, loud children would likely not be ideal for me. Calm, older children would be best :)

Dogs – After some warm-up time, yes. I can be a bit wary of new dogs at first and may get a little defensive, but I warm up quickly once I familiarize myself with my new friends! I am looking for an adopter who is willing to work with me on my comfortability around other dogs. Hiring a dog trainer to help set me up to succeed may be required.
Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. I get a little distracted while walking on busy roads (video) and am better in a calm outdoor environment. As I spend most of my time indoors at the shelter, I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
While I was malnourished at the time of my rescue, the volunteers say I'm a healthy, happy girl now!
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
