Meet Jane and Terk (Bonded Pair)
Jane and Terk were surrendered to HART because their owner could no longer care for them due to health issues. Since they have been living together for so long HART is trying to find them a forever home together.
Jane is a beautiful female Pekingese mix , who is tan and white and weighs 12.5 pounds. Terk is a black with tan markings male Chihuahua and weighs 10.5 pounds. The vet estimates that they were born August 19, 2011. Both of these pups are low active dogs. They will go on a half hour walks but don’t need the walks to make them happy.
They both ride well the car, are OK in a crate, but Terk would prefer to be in someone’s lap. Terk is definitely a lap dog and will want to be on your lap anytime you sit down, but will wonder around the yard with Jane if a lap isn’t available.
Jane is a bit more independent, but if you pick her up, she will sit in your lap. They are fast to get along with other smaller dogs, like the Jack Russell’s in the foster home, but takes some time with larger dogs and if they are not aggressive.
They like people, but being smaller they are not comfortable with rough handling, so not suggested for younger children. They are fairly quiet, only bark if a strange dog or person comes by. Their barks are not very loud and have a pleasant tone compared to most dogs because they are so small. Don’t know how they’d do with cats. They are very easy to have around the house.
They are crate trained ( but have to put them in the crate) and house trained. After they are in the crate they sleep through the night quietly. They would enjoy a fenced yard but would not be necessary.

All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks.
