Jake's Story

**Fostered in Pensacola, Florida**

Meet this handsome 7-year-old Great Dane who is ready to find a family of his very own!

He’s a two-time alumnus, back in our care through no fault of his own, and we’re hoping his next chapter will finally be the one that lasts forever. He deserves a family who will love him, understand him, and give him the stability he needs to thrive.

This big guy has plenty of playful spunk left in him, but he’s also a laid-back gentleman who enjoys the quieter things in life, like lounging on the couch and relaxing on the front porch with his favorite people nearby.

Looking for the perfect houseguest? This guy might just be your dream roommate! He’s content to hang out at home while you’re at work, enjoying some well-deserved relaxation until you return. He loves being near his people without needing to be glued to their sides, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a little breathing room alongside lots of love.

He can be a little nervous around loud noises and sudden movements, and he may need some time to warm up to new people. He’s looking for a patient, understanding family who will let him settle in at his own pace and help him feel safe and secure. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll be happy to have you in his trusted circle!

This loyal boy is very protective of his home and the people he loves, so he would benefit from a family who understands his personality and can help him navigate new situations with confidence. He enjoys the company of other dogs and could potentially do well with older, respectful children who understand how to give him space.

At 7 years old, he still has plenty of love, personality, and companionship to offer. He may not be the dog who runs up to every stranger with a wagging tail, but for the right person, he could be an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.

He’s already had two chapters with us. Now, he deserves a forever chapter of his own. If you have room in your home and heart for a spunky, protective, couch-loving Great Dane who just needs someone willing to understand him, please consider giving this deserving boy the forever home he’s been waiting for!

Jake will come to his new family neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

Jake's adoption fee is $300. To apply to adopt him go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt. There you can read over our adoption requirements before applying.

Please Note: NWFLGDR does not transport dogs. We require all approved adopters to pick up the dog in person.

Our adoption requirements are as follows: 1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY. 3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a great dane should a medical emergency arise. 4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dane safely back to us. 9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our Great Danes are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament. 10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at nwflgdr@gmail.com.
