A kind family took him in once they saw the puppies Jake was being neglected. They could not keep him, so Jake became a pet rescue puppy back in October 2025. He was adopted in November 2025, but it was not a good fit for Jake, and he was returned in May 2026. He is back living in a foster home again.<br/><br/>Jake is now over a year old as of August 2026. Still a youngster! He was born around June 2025. We were told that his mom is red nose pitbull mix with American Stafford terrier and dad is Pitbull, Aussie and American bulldog. He is quite the interesting combination!<br/><br/>Jake has been living back in his foster home for almost 3 months now. He is such a good boy and we are happy to have him back.. Jake is such a sweet, energetic boy. He's good with dogs, cats, and kids. He loves being around people, he will lay on your lap, next to you on the couch or at your feet while you work. Jake loves to play with toys and is great at fetch, we are working on getting him more comfortable walking on a leash as he will benefit from daily walks to help burn his young dog energy. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night. Sudden quick or loud noises can still make him nervous so needs a home that will be understanding, gentle, and kind. No humans with anger issues are ones that like to yell. <br/><br/>8/8/26 UPDATE: Jake is doing so good. He's a high energy dog that would benefit from an active family (daily walks) and probably a fenced yard. Jake loves being with his people. He has gotten to the point where he can be crated without him trying to get out of the crate and is happy to be in there quietly. He does great with other dogs. He's fine with cats but sometimes needs reminders they don't want to play like dogs do. Jake loves to snuggle and will curl up on the couch or bed with you. He does exhibit some anxiety when left alone outside and his humans are inside - he will tend to bark. He's a great dog overall and just needs to continue to learn to trust that his humans aren't going anywhere and when they do, they always come back. He will benefit a lot if he has a home where a family member is home a lot.<br/><br/>Jake will be a wonderful pet for almost any home. Apply today!<br/><br/>$75.00 adoption fee for Jake. <br/><br/>WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.<br/>Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $450 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
